Moving to Melbourne from Sydney. Any advice on the Accommodation in St Kilda and nearby Suburbs

Hi,

I am moving to Melbourne as I have just landed a job there. I have been advised to look out for the areas in St Kilda, Black Rock, Brighton and other nearby suburbs which would balance the travel distance to work and CBD. I am single, 30 year old male and have never been to Melbourne before.

I am flexible with the choice to move into Apartments or 2 Bed house as I intend to flat/house share down the line to make good friends and socialise since I do not know anyone in the city. I need some advise in regards to making contact with known real estate agents/private listings, some price indication. Any suggestions would be very helpful.

If I can even find someone professional to move in on similar boat as me that would be great too. I am moving at the end of this month hence planning and preparing in advance.

Hi, we're living in St Kilda. We viewed a property through Cayzer Real Estate, http://www.cayzer.com.au/?gclid=CJPBxp_0qsECFQdwvAodd5AApg, offered 6-months rent in advance and moved in 12 hours later. St Kilda is a vibrant area, with great tram links to the CBD (25 minutes). There are plenty of apartments for lease at the moment, but you really need to be here to view them. There is one in our block, first from the beach, for $200/week advertised through Stuart Hocking. http://www.hockingstuart.com.au/office/stkilda/

Make sure you have an employment 'letter of intent', past rental history and references at hand. There are plenty of backpackers places to stay while you sort out permanent accommodation.
