Jenniferclaire
Hi, my boyfriend and I are here in Perth on his 457 visa as a panel beater. What my boyfriend really wants to do is paint vehicles as this is the job he did prior to coming to Australia. He was a painter for 15 years but doesn't have any qualifications just on the job training. The question is would he be able to obtain a skilled 189 visa without any formal qualifications as a painter? Many thanks in advance
kayinperth
Painting trades workers 332211 is on SOL, so he can apply for 189 if he passes TRA skill assessment. For 189, he must obtain positive assessment from TRA. Check TRA website for the requirement

kayinperth
I haven't checked the requirement, but it may assess you without qualification but work history, in that case, you have to prove it with reference letters, payment slips etc... I don't know what exactly you need tho. Of course, 189 needs minimum 60 points to apply, so check immi website to calculate the point too. Good luck.
