UK Police Check - Current Immigration Status

Hi guys, I am a long time reader, 1st time poster! So much valuable information on this page!!

 

One question I am hoping someone can help me out with.

 

I have applied for a Partner Visa 309/100 in London and have been asked to complete my Police Check and Medical by 15th April.

 

My question is,

 

I am currently living here in the UK on a Student Visa, it has recently expired, and before that date , I have applied for an extension on this, supplying all the requested info to UKBA, unfortunately, they take some time to make a decision so my status in the UK is currently 'Pending'.

For example, if you were to look on the visa label in my passport, it would be expired, but if you were to look up my record online, it would have that pending status.

 

Will this be an issue when obtaining my Police Check?

 

I have read that they search only for past convictions etc, and I am confident there will be no problem with that, but I am getting worried now that I will have issues, should this come up on my search.

 

I am confident that I am not currently overstaying my previous visa, as I said, as I have definitely submitted the paperwork on time for my student visa, but I am worrying now that I may cause myself problems, unless of course my student visa ducks in, in time for my Police Check to be completed

You may be confident you havent overstayed but before spending money on a police check and "hoping" it does not reveal something you do not wish to be seen, why not contact immigration and clarify the situation?

 

In answer to your quetion, a Police check will reveal if you have overstayed, hence my advice on checking with immigration before parting with your cash.
