Hi, my family and I are moving to Bundaberg in 4 weeks time, my partner is a paramedic and has a job at Burnett Coast station.... We currently live in a small mining village called Cannock in Staffordshire, UK. Can anyone help me by telling me the best places to live in Bundaberg? I am a nurse, are there any local hospitals? my 2 daughters are 15 and 18 are schools and colleges near by...I would be most greatful for any advice...Thanks

how are you finding it? I have emailed a few agencies to help us with accommodation but heard nothing back .

Hi welcome to the forums, You will find that agents will not contact you about accommodation until you are in Australia. Most new arrivals use holiday accommodation for the first few weeks until they can sort out something more permanent. Nurses seem to be in demand in and around the Fraser coast area so you will probably find a job pretty easy once your registration is sorted out.

There is a sister site for members in QLD and you may find it useful to register on there as well, its a quieter site but friendly .... http://www.lifeinqueensland.com/

I love Cannock spent many hours on the "Chase" when I was younger....

Hello Debgav,

My wife is a paramedic in Bundaberg, and I'm a nurse. There are lots of nice places to live here and you'd probably be best getting temporary accommodation somewhere first, and check the area out to see what suits you personally.

When we first arrived we stayed in hospital accommodation for about 10 days and then arranged a short term holiday let (in More Park beach). Do you have a mentor from QAS who can help with setting up short term accommodation when you first arrive?

Lots of the staff from the Burnett Coast station live in Bargara, which is beautiful.

There are 3 hospitals in Bundaberg (1 public and 2 private hospitals). I work at the Friendly Society Private Hospital, (known locally as 'the Friendlies') which is a great hospital and have friends at the public hospital (The base hospital), which also sounds like a great place. The other private hospital is the Mater. What type of nursing do you specialise in?

Paul
