    Hi guys,

I applied for my citizenship at Paramatta(NSW) on 30/06 and just got an invite today, I have rescheduled the appointment for this week. I’m planning to fly to South Australia for work later this week.

Wondering whether it would be possible to have the ceremony at a different council ? Would that slow down the process? That is sit the exam/interview in NSW and request to have ceremony elsewhere.

    thanks in advance 🙂

Current knowledge: ceremony can only be hosted at residential council except certain 0emergencies”.

Thank you for your reply mate. My current council is acatually Ryde City which host even less ceremonies each year than Ku-ring-gai. That's why I was thinking whether it is worthwhile to change my address to my friend's place. Then I guess it's better to stick to my current council.

I think it’s better to continue in the same council because things might be in motion and changing tracks might cause delays.

The backlog is very high. Waiting time is uselessly stressful. My PR and passport are expiring soon.
it is going to restrict my travel and also can’t get jobs which require nv1/2/baseline clearance

They should do 4 ceremonies same day with minimum 100 people each.  or book a school and do 400-500 people once every month.

    Good day guys

how long department take to approve application after test and interview

    thanks

Same day or within a week if nothing (additional documents) is pending otherwise longer than that.
they continue the assessment if the interviewing officer observed an anomaly ( e.g. original document wasn’t shown ) during interview.

    Hi Everyone,

Who attended the Ku-ring-gai council ceremony today? Can you share the timeline when you got the approval? Thanks!

No responses here, anyone sent a DM ?

How long have you been waiting?

approval letter says that we will be informed 4 weeks before ceremony date.
so I estimated approval date + 5 weeks at least.

    Additional guesstimate:

there are 561 approved candidates, waiting for ceremony as of 28 feb 2023.

ceremony schedule for ku ring gai :

22 April (not expecting if approved on or after 29 feb).
    17 May, 28 June, 19 July, 23 August, 20 September, 25 October, 22 November

if they do 150/month (don’t know if it’s 100 or 150) then won’t be getting anything till 28 June, so I am hoping for 19 July or 23 Aug. kuring gai is one of the slowest *cough* (laziest) council when it comes to ceremonies

It will be easier to guess if someone can tell how many people are invited to each ceremony.

don’t know why they do just once per month. Should do twice every month if not weekly.

  6. Hello, I have completed my interview and test, I was asked to provide penal clearance during the interview. I have uploaded the required penal clearance after getting an extension. The current status is “further assessment” any idea how long will it take  ?

In our case it did slow down the process for the interview as we were invited later than we had anticipated but I dont think it will have anything to do with your ceremony once you are approved

    Thanks Iman.

How much delay is expected ? 1 month ?

  8. Will traveling to my current home country (India) for 4-5 weeks delay processing of my citizenship application?

    - will it slow down the processing & delay invitation for a interview date (if travelling before interview)

    - will it slow down the invitation for ceremony (if travelling after interview/approval)

    Hi,

Could any body guide me? My application for citizenship has been approved however I m yet to receive ceremony invitation. I intend to fly out of Australia tomorrow to come back after 20 days. Do I need to inform the department of home affairs? And if yes, what's the procedure to inform them. Thanks

Hi Yameen, please let us know if you informed dha or now know what needs to be done in such scenario. Thanks

Truly the process does not make sense at all. I am unable to go for my medical now because VFS has my passport, and the medical centre requires me to have the original passport available.
I have also heard mixed responses. For one friend, no phone call or house visit was made - PCC issued without any of it. For another, they called and visited the home...

Boss man ( https://twitter.com/DrSJaishankar ) is here in Canberra. Maybe get his attention on Twitter. 100 tweets might help

Hi there! Have you received your Indian PCC? Did they visit your home? I have applied for Indian PCC and I'm worried about the same.

    good luck to you🤞

I Decided to visit India and try from RPO and go to the Police station.

Other forms got mixed responses. Someone applied from Canada (for Canada PR) and nobody visited their place.

The entire process is ridiculous and makes no sense.

Q: do they (consulate/vfs) confiscate the passport if pcc is negative ?

A: No !  Then what’s the point of keeping the passport for 8 weeks

Been living abroad for 7+ years now , how verifying my address is important when I don’t even live there, ?

What’s the point of having a consulate who can access RPO data or Aadhar data ?

why can’t they just verify when I am sitting right infront of the consulate general?

can they really catch any criminal by following this process? I doubt if Nirav Modi or Vijay malya will ever apply for pcc 😂

Here is a hopeless attempt from me .

What is PCC? Police certificate? The police/Australian authorities will only give you a certificate of your Australian criminal history (or lack of it).

You'll need to order one from the authorities of each of the relevant countries you've lived in for a year or more, I have no idea how it works in India, in the UK I had to apply to ACPO for a criminal record check, I assume there's some similar process for every country. I can't see why they'd go to your house, it's based on the information the Police hold on their systems, but again this might be different in India. Either way, it won't be the Aussie cops heading over to India to look into this for you!

    Thanks for the quick response.
It’s PCC from India. It’s being done by a 3rd party (vfs) in Australia The process takes 8 weeks as per their website. I believe vfs forwards the application for pcc to Indian consulate and then Indian consulate ask the police station in locality of address.
My worry is that if the Indian police goes to my place in India then they will find it locked since I nobody lives there except me when I visit India. It’s still my permanent address in India.

  13. Hello Guys,

I will be applying for citizenship in last week of October.

    Need some advice regarding pcc

    1. Did anyone apply for PCC from VFS Sydney?
    2. Do they (police) go to the address in India ?

    Reason I asked because:

    • The house is locked.
    • Nobody in the neighbourhood knows me because I was living there on rent and left the place almost 7 years ago when I left India in 2015.
    • Parents moved to another district and other nearby residents I know now live in USA.
