Thanks for your reply. In our case, the parents i.e. me and my wife applied for citizenship in Dec 2019 and the baby was born in April 2022 overseas when parents were stuck in India due to COVID.

    Hi

Go to the Australia immigration website  -> Become an Australian Citizen. There is a citizenship application pathway for children under 15 years old. Look at the section for Child 15 years or younger applying on their own. Hope it helps.

So those 20 practice questions which is on the web site, are enough?

because every time when i re do the practice i got the same questions.

During the test, the same 20 question will be test or it could be different?

Did you download the  Australian Citizenship: Our Common Bond (https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/citizenship/test-and-interview/our-common-bond) and have a read?

The questions asked will be from there.

I went through a similar situation recently. After asking for a fresh police clearance certificate of a recent visit to my home country, I was allowed to take the test and then arrange the certificate in next 60 days. I arranged it in next 20 days. Uploaded it as soon as I could do. My application was then approved after 2 days. Now waiting for ceremony invite from Cardinia Council.

Yes, I received the email from Australian Immigration office already. My country was stricter as they need to see an official letter.

I was only given 28 days to produce. Hopefully no delay from the postal.

  4. Hi

I have this unique situation here. If anyone had a similar situation or know the process, let me know.

Prior to my interview, I received a further email requesting to fill up 1399 form, which I done and uploaded.

in the interview, the office asked for my police clearance. I told I was not asked for it, but only for the 1399 form. Upon checking, the officer apologized and said it was their mistake during the pre-assessment. He still allowed me to go ahead and take the test and said that he will send an email later for me to get the police clearance. He did not check any documents. I have passed the test.

    1. how long will it take for them to get back to me on the police clearance email.

    2. If I do not received the email for a few days, how do I followed up with Immigration office? Any email address or phone I can call to?

    3. My husband had got the approval letter for him and our kids.
I do not want my situation to affect their place for citizenship ceremony as I mention in the application to attend together.

How do I inform Immigration that we would like to have separate ceremonies.

    Appreciate if anyone can help.

They will ask you for the one that you have submitted with your VISA application, Birth Certificate is the most important they can even ask for you a birth certificate even if you have submitted a family registration certificate, so I would recommend that you should have your birth certificate with you.

    Thanks.

    Hi everyone

seeking expert opinion on the following concern:

while citizenship application my son was under 16 years of age and now we have received test invite and he is over 16 years of age.

Do I need to inform DHA regarding this or is it obvious, no exam or obligation on his part?

    Hi ,

Saw from your post you had the test and interview recently. Anything required from your son since he is over 16?

    Regards

It depends upon whether or not you've been overseas. If you have been since you got your PR and spent more that a certain time in one country (I forget how long) you'll have been asked for an overseas police check from that country as part of the application. I needed a UK police check as I lived in the UK for another 3 years after getting PR. You don't need to submit an Australian police check. They run those for all applicants automatically.

    Thanks.

I will assume the total time they meant is for a single trip and not a few trips over a few years.

    1. Yes, you can fly out. However, you are supposed to notify DHA of your travel dates and you won't receive a test invite while you are overseas. If you are planning to be away for a short period of time I would not tell them. I missed my turn in the queue because I did and they didn't send me an invite until 3 weeks after I got back.

    2. You can definitely fly out after being approved. If you receive a ceremony invite and you can't attend you can contact your Council or DHA to postpone the date if necessary. You just need to make sure that you attend a ceremony within a year of approval or it can be cancelled.

    Thanks for the information

  10. Hi

Would like to have some understanding

    1. If yet to receive test invitation but due to some urgency, need to fly out of Australia, can we fly out?

    2. If we got the approval but still waiting for the ceremony, are we able to fly out of Australia for a short holiday about a month plus?
