Hi all, tried to search for this as I’m sure it’s been answered before but couldn’t find it.

Applied citizenship April 2022, thinking of moving back to Uk for 2.5 years in March 2023, then come back (in VIC so I know it’s unlikely to get a test before then). I know it can’t be approved whilst I’m overseas but my question is how long can the application be sitting there on hold before they cancel and I have to reapply?

We can prove substantial ties (own a house, our newborn’s a citizen, bank account, super etc) and satisfy the general residence as at application, will they say we no longer satisfy it on our return?

We really want the citizenship as we intend to live in australia when the baby goes to school etc, is it too risky to go ?

other option is to renew our rrv and then reapply??

anyone have any advice or risks to share?

U should be recieving an invite soon if u have applied in Apr2022.. as already mar 2022 applicants have recieved invites for test. So next 15 days u should most probably get it too.. now depending on ur council u may or maynot get the ceremony done before mar 2023. U have 1 year after approval to attend the ceremony. Or else ur approval gets cancelled..

If u r in council with longer wait times for ceremony u can move to another council. Get ceremony done..apply priority passport n all set to leave before March..good luck.. u r almost there.. would definitely suggest to complete the procedure n leave.

Same old cliche answers. Said your status is now showing "onshore". No updates on your case yet. You need to wait as it is still within the processing time window. I applied in sep21and people from feb 22 in VIC are now getting invited!

Ohh thats sad..i hope they invite u soon..it can be very frustrating i understand..the entire process has tired me..applied in mar 2021..finally have the invite for ceremony in November...a total of 20 months in total..

    Hi

I applied for citizenship from VIC sep 20th 2021. I noticed many applicants from those dates are receiving invitations these days.I have been overseas the last 3 months and I will be back to Australia in 20 days. I have also notified the department on my immiaccount the exact date of my return. My question is, can applicants receive invitations for interviews while they are overseas? Is there a chance I will receive the invititation now that I have informed my return date or do they wait for me to return? Once I return will I most likely receive an invitation quickly as most other applicants from sep 2021 have already been invited or was my application on hold during the time I was overseas and I need to wait longer?

I would appreciate your help and input 🙂

Dont worry u will be invited once u back.. u wont get an invitation while overseas. Dont stress.. enjoy ur holidays..

Hi Everyone, Applied for Citizenship on 16th Aug 2021 (Victoria, Noble Park). Called for interview and test on 23rd Aug 2022 (Email received 14th july 2022). Have applied for my wife (with kids) and me. Question is do I have to take my son who has turned 16 yrs last month or he is exempted (as he was under 16 yrs when we applied). In case, I have to take him, does he have to give the test as well. Any direct immigration contact number or email ID to get answers for these question. Pls advise. 🙏 Thanking in advance for your valuable response and feedback. Syed (0404908530) email SUHAILAYAAN@AIM.COM

No, u dont need to take him. He was under 16 at the time of application so nothing needs to be done. U can reschedule ur test n finish the test earlier n get in queue for cermony

    Hello all,

Just a few queries to ask:

    1. What's the latest date up to which Wyndham Council invited for ceremonies? I read one of the comments saying up to 9th March 2022.

    2. If someone needs to go overseas for approximately a month, then does he/she need to inform if they are planning to come back before the next ceremony date listed on the council website?

    Please suggest.

Applicants approved upto around 11Mar have been invited for the July ceremony. Next one is only in September. If ur travelling period is between this time frame .. i dont think there is any need to inform them... they have kept us hanging for long..

Did anyone receive citizenship ceremony invitation for 24th July in Wyndham Council? My application moved to approved state on 28th March 2022 and waiting for invitation.

People approved upto 11 mar reported invitation.. even 15 mar approved hasnt received invite.. so now next ceremony September 😏🙄

Wyndham council who’s application approved after June 2022 , they  need to wait until next year for ceremony as per Wyndham council officials .

So frustrating 😡😡 they can easily organise a big ceremony n finsih the backlog.. everyone waiting in wyndham.. email peter.maynard@wyndham.vic.gov.au and request to organise more ceremonies. I had send an email and received reply.. currently working with DoHa to see if they can schedule extra ceremonies..

All those r approved lets email them n build the pressure

    Hello everyone,
We are Indian citizen and can apply for Australian one now.
Should we both apply for citizenship or only one?
Is there any benefit by applying Aus citizen for one person and keeping the Indian for the other one.

Can someone help me on that?

I can help u..if u let me know the benefits of having the Indian passport over Australian passport

A quick update. Test/interview done today.

I received my test/interview invitation via email yesterday (20 April 2022). @MLB_Applicant (thank you for sharing the link to reschedule the date). Luckily, I was able to reschedule my appointment to 30 April 2022 (today).

Just came back from the test centre (passed the test). To my surprise, they were open on a Saturday. The whole thing took about 25 minutes for me (about 5 minutes for the interview and under 20 mins for the test).

We entered the premises, entered the client ID and were asked to go to level 2. The lady just asked for the driver's license and passport to verify details. Confirmed basic details like DoB and address. I was allowed to sit the test. But you must take along all the required documents they have listed on the invitation email.

Some tips for everyone. Do study the material available online as the questions were little tricky for me (it would possibly just be me as I panic and get nervous quite easily). I managed to score 100% after spending good time.

    - Please do spend time understanding the question.

    - Avoid making choices in a hurry.

    - Do not create hassle for yourself.

    - You will not miss the train.

    - There is plenty of time.

    - First attempt is not end of the world

I came back after the test.

Another important thing. I am an owl who spent all night studying the online testable material and that was the reason I confidently rescheduled the test/interview to today (when I only received the invitation yesterday). Another reason was that I was done waiting for over 13 months after applying. So I just wanted to get done with it.

I will now be waiting for approval and ceremony.

This forum provides a lot of information and gives hope, specially to those who have been waiting for a very long time. Everyone goes through the same process. Do not lose hope and stay focused.

Thank you everyone and good luck.

Wowww that was quick. I never thought test on saturday was an option. Hopefully u wiĺ be approved soon.
