Got my test invite! It does seem that for Sydney, the Parramatta office is about a month ahead of the CBD:

    Application date: 1st September 2021

Received test invite letter: 17 March 2021

Test day: 18 March 2021 at Sydney CBD office

I went online to reschedule right away and there was plenty of spots coming up, so I was able to reschedule it for tomorrow. Hopefully it all goes smoothly!

Also, what documents did most people bring to the test?

    Just an update:

Passed my test, was in and out in 15 minutes and got my approval letter less than 10 minutes after leaving. Now just the wait for the invitation to a ceremony

And if this helps anyone, they checked these documents just for approval: Birth certificate, Australian license and passport. And the test was super easy, but it did help that I read the testable section of the PDF, and it took me 5 minutes to take the test

I kinda feel like we need to set up a shared spreadsheet and kindly ask everyone to update their timeline in there. Once we’ve got that, I think a lot of the questions can be answered and people can refer to it for general timeline
I’m happy to set up the file. But keen to hear if people are interested in the idea

Hey, there actually is already a file for this! Just search for My Immi Tracker and go to the website, create an account for Australia, and select the Citizenship Processing Tracker. You can even use filters. I do it so I can see just NSW data and people are really good at updating their timelines

    G'day everyone

We recently got approved on 22/02 and we are from Parramatta NSW. However our apartment lease is finishing in 30 days and we are thinking to rent an apartment closer to work place (Macquarie park) as they have asked to return to office from next week. Question is how do we inform the DHA about this change in our address and will this change impact our ceremony invitation.

    Cheers!

Congrats! What was your application date?

    Hey Sydney applicants,

Just received my appointment letter for the test!

    Timeline:

    • Citizenship application: 29/04/2021
    • Test: Monday 20th December
    • Sydney CBD

That's so exciting for you! I didn't apply till 01/09/2021 so I have a while to wait but it's just good to know that Sydney is processing applications and tests are being conducted

    Good luck on your test!

I get what you mean, but on the website of immigration, it states: "You need to live in Australia on a valid visa (tourist visas are included) for 4 years, and not be absent from Australia for more than 12 months".
I have been absent from Australia for 9 months only, this is why the residency calculator says I meet the requirement to apply in February 2023.

However, my question is, would the officer examining my application consider the application not valid since I didn't have a home/rental lease or any other ties here in Australia between February 2019 and November 2019? (other than my Australian wife).

Ahh my bad, I see where I misunderstood the rules, I'm sorry about that. If I can find a way to delete my previous comment so I don't give anyone else the wrong info then I will

In that case, since you had a valid visa, you can use your passport as proof of when you first entered the country in Feb 2019. It was most likely electronically scanned so it's in the government's system, as well as the valid visa. That is what I used to prove when I entered as well

  7. You would of had to reside in the country for 4 full years, and anytime during those years if you went out of Australia, even for one day, that would be deducted from your 4 year requirement. The 9 months you spent in Europe does not count.

But also, when you apply online through Immi you have to put all the dates you entered and left the country, so you wouldn't even be able to put the application through if Immi doesn't think you meet the 4 year requirement. I hope that info helps

After you came back to Australia on the visitor visa in November 2019 is when your residency would start. Since Nov 2019, did you leave the country at all and if so, how long?

I got my permanent residence on 11 May 2019

    I entered Australia on 2 Dec 2017

Did you leave Australia for even a day anytime since you entered the country on Dec 2nd 2017?

I came to Australia on February 12th, 2017 and got my permanent residency August 31st 2020, and was able to apply for citizenship on August 31st 2021 so I don't see why you should be having issues

It might be worth making sure all the dates you put into the application is correct

Hi everyone Yesterday I completed 4 years in Australia without any absence when I started the application online When I reach page 6 it gives me message error as the attach photo above.

I check the residency calculater and it gives me yes I am eligible on 2 Dec 2021 but it is not working

I read some forums and they said I have to wait 1 week after eligible date

I tried to call home affair but no response at all

When did you become a permanent resident?

When I applied, I was able to apply on the exact date a year after I got my permanent residency approved

Are you serious? That’s way within processing times. People in Melbourne are waiting for a sign since mid-2020

Mate, Calm down. I'm sorry you are waiting so long but it's literally just a question. I was just curious if Sydney was processing applications, and wanted to see what timeline in Sydney we are looking at, which is completely different to Melbourne.

    Timeline:

Applied for citizenship on: 12 May 2021

    Still waiting on test

    Council applied: Shoalhaven, NSW

Have you gotten any communication at all or just still showing the status as application received?

Does anyone know if NSW is even processing citizenship applications at the moment?

  12. Hey guys, I'm in Sydney and I applied for citizenship 01/09/21. I haven't heard anything yet, but I know things are pretty backed up due to Covid and the lockdown etc.

Just curious if anyone else in Sydney applied in the last year and if they heard anything yet, or how long it took to be invited to take the test?

Also, is everyone required to have an interview and test, or do some people just need to take the test?
