  1. Hi Pamela,

I hope you reply to this. My ex brother in law has been constantly threatening to cancel my sisters visa. Is there any way I can write it to DOHA that he’s threatening her that would make her case look stronger.

hoping to hear from you soon.

    regards,

    Ankita111

Hi, I'm holding a 489 dependant visa. Things went wrong in our marriage and I'm planning to live separately (we haven't decided on a divorce yet). I would like help on 2 things:

    1. Will my visa be revoked if we live separately (in different apartments)?

    2. Will there be any issues while applying for 887 visa independently after completing 2 years of stay and 1 year of full time work (do not want to apply as a dependant anymore)?

    3. Is it advisable that I move out of the country and apply for 491 visa instead?

    Appreciate any help. Thank you.

How did you go Lizzie ?
    please let me know

  3. Yeah sure. I’ll suggest her that as it’s a lot easier and better to get advise from someone who has been through the situation.
thank you so much. I might post here again if She needs any assistance in future .

    thank you again 🙂

    I really appreciate that.

  4. Wow. I’ll suggest her to do that as her husband is wanting to leave the relationship and sponsor someone else from overseas and add in the application and telling my sister that she can either apply for her own skilled visa or go back. Thank you so much Pamela. you are a gem and thank you so much for replying

  5. She’s on 491 which is very similar to 489 .

but she has to live and work in regional areas for 3 years before she can apply for PR pathway like 887. She’s working and can meet the conditions.
Can I ask what did your ex try to do in order to cancel your visa?
did he ask immigration to do so ?
also she doesn’t have any kids and agents are telling that her visa can get in trouble as she doesn’t have a valid grounds to stay in the country
    thank  you

  6. Thank you so much Pamela.

I think informing them is the right thing to do as agents are telling her not to inform and wait till she applies for 191 and then disclose it which will automatically make department question her that why didn’t she inform before.
did your ex partner have to inform as well?
sorry for asking too many questions but she’s too desperate and I really want to help her.

  7. Thank you so much Pamela. She’s just paranoid since she has been getting mixed responses from everyone and migration agents are telling her to not inform department. I have advised her to notify immigration and the stress that it is causing her.
    thank you so much again,

    Hi @Pamela and Lizzy,

I am in the same situation like yours. I am on the 489 visa as secondary applicant. We came here in July 2019 but we got separated 9 months back. now we both want to take divorce. I want to know what all are the procedures. can i inform DIBP and file for Divorce? I have met all the condition of 489 visa. Now i have to file for 887 in upcoming months.

Can i inform DIBP and apply divorce before filing 887?

Your answers will be highly appreciated .

    waiting for your response.

Hi vims, how did you go

    please let me know

    thank you

  9. Hi Pamela,

I hope you read the message. My sister has been going through a lot of stress and trauma due to what is happening in the relationship. When she attaches a form 1023 do you think it is a good thing to describe her situation in a letter with that?
or she should just fill the form and inform them that she’s separated.

    Any answer would be appreciated

    Hey Everyone
    Hope you are well.
    Just a small query.
What if secondary applicant from 491 visa separates from primary applicant as primary applicant wants to apply for divorce.
Can they apply 191 on their own as long as they meet income criteria and conditions.
Does DOHA needs to be informed?
    Thank you
