Another question: my wife had a test on friday in sydney city office.
I remmeber from my experience in parramatta office that we had to raise our hand and show the examiner that we have passed before leaving. The instruction to my wife were not clear and she left the centre after passing the test.
Any potential issue with this ? Anyone had a similar experience.
was she too excited to reach the SALE in ZARA?
Yes, there maybe issues, until her application is approved.

I visited Australia briefly about 13 years ago using a temporary passport that I don’t have anymore. Anyone had a similar issue? What can I use as evidence of first arrival?

Hi Friends,
I am bit confused here.
Do we need to submit Overseas / Australian police check during Citizenship application submission or after interview. Even though if I did not spend more than 12 months in overseas in last 4 years. I have seen some you tube videos from People who are sharing their Citizenship application process. Everyone mentioned about PCC check. See below my timeline and advise
Entered in Australia- 6 March 2016 (457 visa)
PR Approve April 2019 (186 ENS)
Citizenship Applied May 2020 - Melbourne
From 2016 - 2020 Feb. (I have been out of Australia(to India) not more than 6 months. Max 45 days per vacation.AUS FED POLICE CHECK is done by home affairs and they already charge you money in fee for citizenship.
Overseas police check -> You have to do yourself. If you added dates of country visited correctly, then you need not worry to think if you missed. Immi account tells you what to attach in the documents as mandatory. For some it is mandatory depending upon how long they stayed in other country, for some - Not required.

is it with everyone that they could see the CEREMONY INVITE in IMMI or in email, before getting the invite letter in postal?
Like can we expect update in immi account first and then wait for letter in mailbox.
please comment.

The list goes in a computer database and even if it gets appended in the end row of the table which has all the information for the applicants,
they sort it and then send invites.
After your test is done, council is assigned and if you move & update the address online,
it is still required to send to new council by ringing them on helpline.
Immigration software is not a piece of junk.
For ex : Try resubmitting your citizenship application with same credentials and passport, etc => it will not let you even move forward after 2/3 pages of application, becuase of so many validations embedded in software.
Few steps are kept manual / requires authoritative access from department, so applicants don't create a mess !!!
Trust them.

Thank you for your thoughts on this
Is it known for certain that this is how they do it - i.e. sorting for each list they create ? Or do they simply append the new applicant to the list assuming it is coming to them in a sorted order because it is anyway being sent that way to them ?
Regards

Hi,
Thank you for the reply.
I had asked the dept. on the process to change address as the plan is to go for abt 2 months or more. And they said to make change online and call them up so they can update the department. I thought they would do it right away.
do you happen to know what further steps does the team need to take to route the application and if these are complex or how long they take on average to do the change ?
Regards

My thoughts :
This may not be too complex to route , as they must be freshly sorting on approval date each time they sit to send invitations , but
Lets say, you were 100th person in a queue in place 1, and on relocation => you moved to 150th or 50th person in place 2.
So you have to see if [ time taken to process application for 50th place + routing time ] is less than in your current 100th person in a queue in place 1.
And if you end up being 150th person in queue in place 2, then gone!
Don't move just to fasten this process, if you are not so sure and call them to route your application.

Thank you.
What would reside mean if I reside in 2 places. Which one is to be given ? Like for a month or 2 in one place and the other place for another month or 2.
See, if you update address online, even then it has to be routed manually by team to schedule further steps in application.
Changing and switching back does not expedite. Usually they say, if you are planning to stay for more than a month, then update.
Wait times will be still applicable in new place, plus how long they take to route you to new department.

Hi all,
Just want to check if you know there are any rules that one should not change address to a city if we do not have official work in a given city ?
For example, as of now I am working from home and this means I could be in other city than the one where the office where I work is (looking for investment properties and getting a feel for the city ).
I am leasing an apartment in other city (in both cities). Is it ok to state that address in other city as the residential address while I am looking for properties etc. ? Or should I keep it where the office is ?
Thank you
Work/office location does not matter.
Where you reside, matters!

I have passed my citizenship test on 5th of fab but my immi account still showing received, I didn’t received any approval letter either. Is this a normal or should I contact them to find out?
Your police clearance must have been stuck !! That's the last step. Everyone goes thru AFP PCC, for some it is quick !! It is a name check only - I believe. If your name is unique, it must be quick. What's your name ? Michael , John, William, etc
Share your profile and travel history , so we can comment.

Looking for some advice please. Applied in Melbourne in April 2020, so hoping I might not be too far away to hear back. Unfortunately my Father in the UK is now receiving palliative care and I'm having to look at getting back to see him and support my Mum. I would need to update my right to return visa to do this which is so frustrating as over $400 dollars now whereas I could be so close to getting an Aussie passport instead.
Basically, is there anyway of contact someone to see if my citizenship application can be expedited? Anyone got a phone number? Thanks in advance.
They can expedite the ceremony in some cases but not test.
have you done your test?

Anyone in NSW got Virtual citizenship ceremony in last 30 days or so?
And which council..

What you uploaded in the immi account, you should have it handy. If not, can u show it online on ur country website database ?
I have been hearing that they don’t ask much documents bcoz of Covid.
-:-:-:-
I don’t think , rescheduling to earlier date impacts anything, because they open your profile for document check only on day of interview and then approve it.
Only glitch may be ur AFP PCC, which may take time for your application to get approved.
Anyone who rescheduled to earlier date and got approved on same day, can confirm?

The Test invite email came from noreply@mail.appointments.homeaffairs.gov.au and the Subject was :Citizenship Appointment Letter - Brisbane Office .
Its best to keep a watch on your Spam folder incase this goes into it.
The same will also come up in the messages (List of correspondence) section of your citizenship application in the immi account
Thanks
Must be much appreciated from all.
