Great news, and I hope the new job is going well.  Our airBnb was pretty ropey, and we were lucky to find a nice furnished rental and signed a 12 month lease so our youngest started school on Wednesday and our eldest starts the coming Tuesday in an excellent SHS.  Job wise I have interviewed for a good role and fingers crossed.  As I expected there are not too many at my level, but lets see how it goes.

Awsome to hear  ! Jon how are you finding living in Adelaide ? We are leaving in 2 months.. It is becaming real 🙂

Thanks!  We have been very lucky, smooth flights with space to stretch out, maybe 60 people in Economy on the London - Singapore leg, and 20 on Singapore-Perth, including the entertainment of one guy in a CSI style full body suit 🙂

Arrival in Perth was slow but smooth, with sanitiser & mask change / passport control / Navy checking you had a G2G pass / G2G details check with police (no mention of Australian Travel Dec, so I guess they check that at passport control via your passport number) / baggage collection / customs checks / Hotel bus check / wait for bus / bus escorted by 2 police cars to the hotel / Carries our own bags onto a trolley / hotel check in / escort by secutiry to lift / from lift / into room.  And breathe.

Very lucky with the hotel as well. the Hyatt with a river view suite.  Kids beds are in the lounge but plenty of room generally.  My lovely cousin brought us a goody box.  Got some room service wine, and the dinner was pleasant.  Only 13 days to go!

Hi Jon, awesome that all went well!!!

Hope the quarantine is not too difficult to manage. Thanks a lot for your detailed info - it is very helpful.

Are you staying in Peth or moving to Adelaide after quarantine?  All the best!

I can’t quite believe it but we’re at Heathrow having breakfast.  Bags dropped, all checked in, through security.  I’m starting to believe we are going to make it! Can I get excited now?

Yes ! Great news Jon! Hope your trip goes smootlhy. Looking forward to hearing from you from Aus !

Thanks @Gothnet -  fingers are well and truly crossed.  All our stuff went yesterday, travel declarations all done, G2G pass updated.  Just got to find some one way travel insurance as my annual one doesn't cover migration.

Just to scare the shit out of us, I saw the first cancellation from SQ223 on facebook earlier.  30th September.  We fly next week so hopefully they are working on date order and we are ok.  There is no plan B now.

    hi Jon,

Hope your flight will go ahead ,crossing my fingers for you ! Ours is in Dec with Quantas LON-PER-MEL .

May I ask you who did you go for the migration insurance , I need to look into it. many thanks 🙂

Our two Sevenseas MoveCubes arrived here in Melbourne this week, after leaving the UK in late May. It was a very positive experience without any problems. Very good communications from Sevenseas, their website is easy to use and you can track the progress of the ship (we even got to watch the ship arriving in Melbourne). At both ends the drivers were on time, very helpful and friendly. All costs were as per the original quote and no additional charges when we changed the delivery address in the last week. Two large MoveCubes cost about £2,500 plus AU$700.

Thanks a lot Susie. Very helpful. Hope you are enjoying your new location ,despite the lockdown. We are aiming to get to Melbourne in Q1 2022 🙂

The last one i used  ( 2018) for a UK --> AUS  move was PSS.

They were ok-ish , which ever company you go with, it really depends on the crew you get on the day  ( i did a few of these moves . UK-AUS once , AUS-UK twice , West Coast  to East Coast  in Aus a few times too).

As an example :We had prepared all our item and sorted shows/boots  and wooden item into some crates to be packed  separate , when we unpacked on the other side they just slapped a label on it without protective packaging and put it into the container . Some packing teams  don't spend too much time thinking when they pack your house.

We know now to pack/protect all the stuff that is important to us ourselves .

They all promise you the world and have glossy brochures with red carpet  .  Then on the other end  you get a completely different company to do the delivery ...

i think we had Kent delivering for them in OZ, which was OK.

Came back to the UK with Grace which were excellent , they have used WridgWays to deliver here which were ok apart from the custom clearance and delivery took forever which led to spending two weeks in an empty house ( i put this  down  to Covid being a "new" thing in 2020 ).

I have used shared container and sole small containers in the past , didn't really experience any difference, arrived about in the same time frame .

PSS were very pedantic about the cubic meter used and send us a bill for just over a tenner  because we were over by a whisker , Grace was more Aussie style "Yeah Nah , she'll be right mate no drama " 🙂

i never do the insurance with the removal company , have always used Letten Percival for that .

I will do the move myself again  in about another 12 month (UK - AUS) ....

Thansk a lot ! I really apprecaite your detailed review on shipping companies .

Best of luck with your move !

Anyone been granted 309/100 recently? Feels like everything has gone quiet after a flurry of activity earlier this year. Not complaining mind as the state Australia is in with constant lockdowns, need the vaccination programs to progress a bit more before we would be keen to make the leap.

I have recevied my 100 visa from the London office. Please have a look at my post -I listed my timeline.

Log into your immi account and choose new application, then choose Family, then select Sponsorship for a partner to Migrate to Australia it will then ask for the reference number from YOUR Application and your date of birth. Then let your sponsor fill the form out and submit it. It will be connected to your application due to the reference number.

To clarify it’s an online form rather than a form you download.

Your partner/sponsor does this through your immi account.

Thanks a lot BigJoe ! Found it 🙂

To be frank, it would have been better to have resolved any questions before handing over nearly $8,000. There is no ‘support email’ ... but there is some guidance on the Department’s website as a first -out of call.

Thank you Paul.  My questions have arisen upon submittion. Perhpas somone will know the answer- I would very much appreciate any help on the following:

1.Health checks: I have received a referral letter for the health checks. I want to know if I should proceed now or wait until later as I understand it expires after 6 months?

    2. Are the police checks mandatory ?  ( even for  otherEU countries ). What is recommanded timeline to undertake them?

3.Upolading attachements : under the diffrent cathegories should I use the same documents -repeating them to support my application or once added in the application is serves all cathegories?

4.Can I cluster ( put in slides)  my pictures or they need to be loaded one by one ?

Thank you very much for help.Anna

    Hi Amoruso ,

I hope you will hear from them soon. I would like to ask you a question as I’m applying for my infant daughter as well :did you take a photo by yourself? Did you provide identity declaration?
    many thanks !

  13. I am applying for 309/100visa from the UK. Anyone has any info on the timeline of the process during Covid? Also how much time would we have to move from the day when the visa is granted?
I’m also unsure if family unit applies only to ppl living under the same address or my parents as well?
    many thanks for any feedback!
