Hi Almost Oz- I have emailed ceremony.qld@homeaffairs.gov.au on several occasions to no avail. Not sure if your timeline is similar to mine (below)

Let me know if you hear back- Good luck!

I just had my VC today morning from Brisbane. My application was approved on 20/Nov/20 and was supposed to have the ceremony on 04/Aug which was canceled due to recent lockdown. I've requested VC (stating my employment requirement) with all supporting docs.  To be honest, I have emailed them twice last week, but no response. I have emailed them again two days back stressing about my situation and they sent me VC invite yesterday and done with the ceremony today morning..

    Applied: 08/Aug/20

    Test/Approved: 20/Nov/20

Ceremony : 04/Aug/21 (Cancelled due to lockdown)

    VC: 13/Aug/21 (based on request)

Hi Mate called the citizenship number today as my approval is sitting for 7months with no ceremony in site and the lady told me to wait a little longer, apparently current waiting time is more than 12 months due to COVID-19 and there are no virtual ceremonies getting conducted in Brisbane council as the team who does that are severely understaffed and cannot accommodate any more applications for this year, over all all Brisbane applicants are mightily screwed 😭

Hi mate, I received my ceremony invite today from Brisbane City Council

    Timeline

    Applied: 08/08/2020

    Approved: 20/11/2020

    Ceremony: 04/08/2021

    Hopefully, you get yours soon..

Sorry to hear that. I wish they speed up the process or conduct some 'Mega' ceremonies to clear the backlogs. I am hoping to get my ceremony invite for 4/Aug (fingers crossed)

My neighbour her application got approved in start of November and she did her ceremony last month so I am guessing probably Novemeber or December at this stage for us. Do you know how can we do online ceremony

I was told by DHA that virtual ceremonies have stopped in QLD as of now. Having said that, I have seen people(from QLD) in other forums requesting virtual ceremonies in different states and got their ceremony done. The key is you need to prove (with evidence) why you wanna "rush" with your ceremony??! Few stated their job demands or others need to access HECS, etc..

This one is from another forum: You can try your luck..

Did any one got ceremony invite from Brisbane council for July.. please let me know my application was approved in November last year still no reply

Same as you. I called DHA today to check what's happening with BCC. I was told there is a huge backlog and people who were approved a year back are still being invited to ceremonies. DHA won't tell me when I will be invited..

I got approved Nov-2020 as well and still have not received ceremony invites...

I called DoHA last month, but it was futile... I just got told that the current waiting times from Approval to Ceremony is 7months... so basically, I'm still within the waiting times.

Hi mate.. did you received invite for July ceremony??!

Test completed today. My application is on Received status as my NZ police Clearance has to be verified before they finalise my case. The officer said it might be 2-5 days for verification but given most ppl here with received status had to wait 2 months for status change, I think I'm also on the waiting game. Next update after approval.

Also, they indicated 6-8 months waiting time for ceremony in Brisbane city council.

I did a FOI on number of applications awaiting ceremony in Brisbane city council and the number is ~8100.

Not surprising.. They have just conducted 3 ceremonies so far in 2021 and there is no ceremony planned for June.. moving at a snail's pace.. 😞

I got my application approved in Nov 2020, still no signs for ceremony invitation...

Hello everyone, is anyone here applying from Brisbane?
My citizenship application got approved Nov2020 but still haven't received my ceremony invite.... makes me wonder what's going on?

Just wait for few more weeks, you should be invited for the July ceremony. My application was approved Nov 2020 as well, still waiting..  😞

Hi any idea about processing time in Brisbane

Absolutely slooooowwww.. I mean, you will get a test invite and approval within 3-5 months from the date of lodgement. However, the ceremony will take way too long from there. I know someone who applied in Jan 2020 and approved in Sep 2020 just had ceremony 3 days back. I got approved in Nov  2020 - still no glimpse of ceremony invite as the next ceremony is only at July. 😞

BCC has done only 3 ceremonies so far in 2021.

Lock down just hit Brisbane for the next 3 days starting at 5 pm the ceremony is on the 1st April at 7pm a couple hours after the lock down is supposed to be lifted. Did we dodge the cancelation of the ceremony or not??

Just confirmed BCC has postponed Apr 1 ceremony to a later date. You should receive the info once they have a new date.

    Hi Guys!

Anyone in Brisbane has already received the invitation for the Ceremony on 19th of April?

I got my citizenship application approved yesterday and was wondering when I can expect the invitation.

    Regards, T

You might need to wait at least  4 months with the current trend. My application was approved on 20/Nov and still waiting for the ceremony invite. People who were approved till Oct 2020 were invited to the last ceremony.

Hi Forum, did any one from Brisbane who wrote the test in December received ceremony invite recently. My neighbor got hers yesterday and she wrote the test in October in Brisbane city.

I wrote my test on 20/Nov and approved it on same date. I haven't received an invitation yet :-(. When did your friend apply? What's your neighbor's ceremony date - 1/Apr or 19/Apr??

Guys any news on brisbane ceremonies I called the council and also home affairs both said I have to wait for 6 months as the list for Jan 26 is getting finalised and if I made it I would be contacted. I am sick and tired of checking post box every day they should get it done its been 7 years... I know I ain't going any where but anxiety is killing...

    Hi galisuman,

I think we have to wait a bit longer. AFAIK, people who applied early 2020 or before are being invited for Jan 26 ceremony and I believe they have only a handful of invitations for Jan 26 ceremony. My application was approved 20/Nov/2020, still haven't heard anything from Council or DHA..

Can anybody please suggest, why Vic and NSW are the slowest, whereas, the QLD, WA and SA are the fastest to Process Citizenship Applications ?

And what Victorians or Sydneysiders should do about it ?

Maybe just be covid-safe, follow the simple damn rules, and don't let another outbreak happen..!

I can imagine a lot of us approved will have the ceremony on Australia Day in January. Fingers crossed for you as well.

You will get the ceremony letter through email. And reg dates, Brisbane city council has gone a little slow after they stopped virtual ceremonies. I highly doubt if you will get a ceremony for Australia day as there are still people who were approved in Oct hasn't received the ceremony letter yet.

If at all you are selected for Australia day, you should receive invite by next week. Good luck!

Sorry to bother you again Chennaiguy, Thanks for your above explanation. Kindly let me know whether DHA, after having look at our applications, will notify us through the IMMI Account or by sending a letter by post, about the test date?

    Hey Tipu,

You will need to keep an eye on your EMAIL. DHA would send an email about your test date and venue along with a formal invitation. You won't be notified about the appointment in Immi Account either. Immi Account will be updated only after you finish your test and docs are verified.

Just keep checking your email. Thats all you can do for now.

  17. Just had my test appointment today morning in Brisbane. It was easy-peasy, the whole process took less than 10 minutes. Just sharing my experience,

    • I took a printout of the appointment which was checked by the guy at the front desk. He scanned it and gave me a slip with an Alphanumeric number and was asked to wait inside.
    • I was called in one of the counters with the slip number
    • Officer just verified my license and asked for my name and address. She explained all the process of test and ceremonies.
    • Later, she said all my documents are clear and should be good. She gave me an iPad to do the test right there. (I thought they would send me to a different room with a desktop)
    • Test done. She initiated AFP verification. Came back clear straight away (she told me, for few people it takes days, but mostly comes back within minutes..)
    • She approved the application straight away and said I have to wait for Brisbane City Council for the ceremony invitation. I asked if they are doing virtual ceremony and she said 'NO' - Queensland not doing virtual ceremonies anymore.
    • Officer congratulated and said I can leave. Thanked her and stormed out.

    Timeline:

    • Citizenship App: 08/Aug/2020
    • Test invite: 17/Nov/2020 (Test date: 15/01/2021)
    • Test date (Rescheduled) 20/Nov/2020
    • Approved: 20/Nov/2020

Now, waiting for the ceremony letter.. Good luck for others with your process.

    • Congratulations 3

Speaking of the sunshine, I received my citizenship appointment letter today, I will have the interview and test on the 13th November in Brisbane city 🙂

Great. One of my friends applied first week of March 2020 received his test date last week (17/Oct) and within a weeks time, they have come till May. And, they are conducting test/interviews in Brisbane during Saturdays as well to speed up the process.
