Not trying to be mean here, but what you describe is how loans and debts are supposed to work.

You borrow money and pay back more than you borrowed as a thankyou/payment for them advancing the cash when you needed it.

Interest on a credit card isn't exactly a new concept so shocked that you now find it a problem that Barclaycard are now charging it

😂 I know it probably sounds ridiculous and I was aware of this so just looking to do a balance transfer so I don’t have to pay the interest. I’m not shocked at all, just looking for a way to pay it off ASAP without adding cost of transferring overseas on top as well. You don’t always have to necessarily pay back a mountain more hence 0% credit cards etc.

I would contact them again if I were you. Not prying, but is it a large amount you owe? If not, I wouldn't worry too much about it and just offer to pay off what you can.

£2000. It’s just frustrating that they can’t give me a simple answer as want to pay it off ASAP but now paying interest on top which takes me back a step every time 😣

  3. Hey! I'm sorry if this has been covered but haven't found a chat with the answers I need...

Basically, I have a Barclaycard (English credit card) and have been living in Australia since February 2020. I wondered if anyone knew the best/easiest way to pay this off please? I've been transferring through my Revolut card but now the interest free period on the credit card has expired. I'm getting a bit overwhelmed with the cost of interest and exchange rate etc so any advice would be so much appreciated!
    Thank you <3
