A statutory declaration explaining why I couldn’t provide a commencement document, a referee letter confirming my name and address, and additional ID documents (I sent my police check, a mortgage statement and P60 with a passport photo attached) plus the form with all the documents listed signed by a nurse to confirm they are my documents.

    fingers crossed it’s enough...

The statute declaration for us on their website

    https://www.vit.vic.edu.au/forms-and-publications/forms

theres also a video explaining how to complete it.

for the letter I just got my friend who’s a nurse to wrote a letter confirming my name and address, detailing her name, address and job role.

I hope I’ve done it all correctly, I’m having a major confidence crisis as I felt I had 100% had met their requirements the first time around.

Hi Rebecca have you had any update from then

I’ve not heard back from VIT yet but my agent has advised that I put together all of the other documents (referee letter, statutory declaration and additional bits of ID - I’ve gone with my police check, mortgage renewal and P60), so I’ve sent those off and I’m awaiting a reply. If there are any issues I’ll apply for a tourist visa and try that next, thanks for the heads up.

No worries I’ve emailed them back again so I’ll keep you updated please could you tell me what the referee letter and statutory declaration are or where I can find them as I will probably have do the same as you would help me loads

    thanks

Having a bit of a nightmare with my VIT teacher registration which I need for the 190 visa eoi. I’ve been asked to provide additional secondary ID documents - they have recognised my passport and drivers license but seemingly not my U.K. birth certificate or bank statement.

looking at the list I don’t have any of the commencement documents (all Australian resident docs, I’m still in U.K.) so will have to request an exemption with a statutory declaration, referee letter and further ID docs.

Looking at the list of accepted ID documents I’m struggling to see anything that I have - has anyone gone through this process that can suggest  anything that might be accepted?

I’ve downloaded the stat declaration form, but for the referee letter does it need to be set out in a particular way or does it not matter as long as it confirms my name, address etc ad us signed by an appropriate person?

Total minefield - if anyone can help I’d be really grateful!

Hi Rebecca did you hear back? are you from the uk if so VIT emailed me back and said we can use tourist visas as commencement documents these are free for UK citizens does that help at all?

Will do. I have emailed back, and I have my agent on the case who is also seeking advice from someone at smart teachers.  So hopefully will get some clarity soon. I was so fed up yesterday, yet another hurdle and we are no where near submitting the EOI yet!

Hi Rebecca I emailed them in regards to it and no one replies and when they did they kept sending me the commencement document link if you hear anything will you please let us know what state are you applying to many are closed at the moment so that should give you some time hopefully x

Yes I sent the original application weeks ago with my birth certificate, passport, driving license, and bank statement as these were all listed as accepted documents. Yesterday they emailed asking for the additional documents, but the list appears to have changed - UK birth certificate or bank statement  no longer on there.

Hi so I rang them in the end had to wait till midnight etc and they said you had to have a commencement document are you eligible for the WHV ? Maybe you could ring them and ask about a tourist visa as that’s free for UK citizens. What documents have they now said you can use instead ? I spoke to a teaching agency in Australia and they think VIT will hopefully change this soon. What’s the statutory declaration and reference letter they want ? They have made it near impossible for Overseas teachers

    Strange

That’s a major change if it’s true that’ll ruin a lot of folks plans. I was paper you see so haven’t seen the online

Yeah it’s frustrating extremely backwards to as you can apply with a tourist visa but I find the whole Australia system backwards in all honesty why I have to go through both skills assessment and VIT is beyond me. Have you been invited to apply yet for the 190?

“You must commit to living and working in Victoria for at least two years. If you are currently living in another Australian state, you will need to provide a current Victorian job offer in your nominated occupation to support your visa nomination application.”

That’s what it says on the vic website... I just assumed that would apply to people overseas as well, but I could be wrong, as marissa said it would be nearly impossible to get a genuine job off whilst overseas as the waiting time is so long...

With the VIT I honestly don’t know... it was all via the post when I did it, not online. The only thing that I could think of is that they’ve just changed it and the 190 visa scheme hasn’t been changed to reflect that yet... either that or they want to limit it so that only onshore applicants can apply. Either way it sucks!

The only thing I could suggest is to keep going and get your EOI lodged on skillselect and maybe they’ll sort it out... you could also contact live in Melbourne to ask... and if you get to the point when you are ready to do the 190 and haven’t heard anything back, you could just lodge it without the vit and explain when/if they ask?

Hi ahh see I’ve read that as if your in another state for example Queensland when applying you need a job in Victoria. To stop people not actually going to Victoria. I don’t mind not having a job till I get out there I’ve saved enough so that i don’t have to worry for a few months.
Thanks for advice on the VIT, that’s my plan I think. I will keep you all updated

I found this about commencement- this is instructions on registering as a graduate which isn’t what I’m doing in applying for a 190. I’m registering first as a provisional teacher which is what I need. What it says on VIT and the Live In website hasn’t changed.

Hi I’ve registered with my VIT even for the provisional registration it is asking for the commencement document if you e registered with VIT and start an application you will see under the personal Id area it asks for the commencement documents. I honestly don’t know what to upload there as I’m also going for the 190. Ive emailed vit so will keep you updated if you hear anything will you let me know please?

Each state is different.  Some states require you to have a job lined up  - which makes it almost impossible to apply for the visa, since the processing time for the 190 is so long, and most employers won't wait that long.

Hi I am looking at Victoria sorry I should have said that

No I didn’t get a skilled employment statement. The government reserve the right to contact your employer to verify your claim. At the time of visa you will have to submit a statement of service from your employer. Not necessary for EOI.

I put EOI in before I received VIT registration. Just wanted it in the system. I haven’t done the application to the state yet as everything is very delayed.

I started my AITSL last year and had it in January. Took 9 weeks. Wife put hers in January - took 19 weeks. There’s no rhyme nor reason to what they seem to do

Hi have you gone through the VIT process ? It’s all changed now I’ve just got of the phone to then supposedly you now need proof of commencement I’ve attached an image below. Where do you apply to the

  14. Hi I don’t think having a job lined up is part of the 190 from what I’ve read unless I’ve got that wrong ? Also don’t know if you are aware VIT has now changed so you can only apply for VIT if you have some ID that confirms your entering Australia like your visa which doesn’t work for the 190 of you need VIT before. I’ve just got of the phone to the women at VIT and she confirmed that so god only knows how people will now apply for the 190 and not have VIT registration. Good luck with your Medical

  15. Hi guys so I’m currently in the process of all this I’ve sent my stuff to AITSL did people get the skilled employment statement if not what did they go for instead to claim points on experience also for the 190 were you registered with VIT before you put in your expression of interest x
