    Established in 1930, Hare & Forbes is one of  the largest supplier’s of engineering machinery to the Australian market with over 160 employees and supply branches located in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne & Perth.

     

    About The Role

    Reporting to the Service Manager, this position involves all aspects of mechanical, Pneumatic and hydraulic fitting both within the workshop and our customer's place of business. The successful candidate will perform duties consisting of but not limited to the inspection, commissioning, installation, repair and maintenance of Machine tools.
    The candidate will be in frequent contact with Hare and Forbes customers. As such they are expected to be well spoken and well presented in all aspects of their dealings with internal and external customers.
    It is expected the candidate will possess a desire to develop an extensive set of skills while employed  with Hare and Forbes. They must be willing and able to learn and take on new tasks to become a valuable member of the service team.
    This is a full time position following the completion of a probationary period. Salary/ wages to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

     

    Duties
    •    Mechanical repair and breakdown maintenance of machine tools 
    •    Installation and commissioning of machine tools
    •    Preventative maintenance and servicing
    •    Basic electrical fault finding
    •    Workshop repairs and testing
    •    CNC and Plasma cutting equipment commissioning, repair and maintenance
    •    Reporting on service work – input of information into company databases to grow knowledge
    •    Keeping detailed records of identified problems, processes to undertake repairs and parts required
    •    Accurate time and record keeping – Keeping accurate records to assist in fair billing of clientele

     

    Essential Knowledge
    •    Strong mechanical, hydraulic and electrical understanding of a broad range of industrial and machine tools used in engineering and carpentry trades
    Preferred Knowledge
    •    Familiarity with CNC applications and programming

     

    Essential Skills
    •    Mechanical and hydraulic fitting skills in line with industry expectation
    •    Ability to use trade skills to determine machine faults and take corrective action
    •    Attention to detail to ensure <5% returns on service claims/warranty work- excluding replacement spares
    •    Minimum C class drivers license and clear driving history

     

    Preferred Skills
    •    Forklift license
    •    Restricted Electrical license
    •    Current First aid
    •    Current LVR and Resuscitation

     

    Essential Abilities
    •    Relevant Trade qualification and 5+ years' experience in a similar role
    •    History of employment in a relevant role
    •    Demonstrated employment in B2B  and B2C service work – demonstrates personal attributes required for the role

     

    Preferred Abilities
    •    Willing and able to undertake relevant training to develop and upskill
    •    Support and guide apprentices where appropriate
