My visa has been granted! Just over six weeks including about ten days to submit further evidence (a police check).
-
My exemption was granted one week ago, and my visa is now being processed - they asked for a police check.
I applied for both on 2nd July.My sponsor is a health board.

I’ve been granted my exemption today, I applied on July 2nd.

It states on this page they’re prioritising travellers who are in exempt categories:
https://covid19.homeaffairs.gov.au/i-want-apply-visa
In the exemption application you can specify that you don’t have a visa yet but that you’ve applied for one and give the reference.

Hi all,
Was so glad to find this thread and see people in a similar position. I am a medical officer (not specialist) also (currently in Ireland), I have just applied for my 482 visa last week. Currently the time frame quoted on the immigration website is 75% processed within 3 months. Has anybody found this to be accurate? And to reiterate what is the time frame with the travel exemptions? Would people recommend applying for the exemption while the visa is still pending?
Yes apply for an exemption now. They claim they are prioritising the visas of people with exemptions. Good luck. I’m still waiting.

Mine hasn’t disappeared but it has increased to “3 to 4 months”

Ah this is really helpful thank you, but disappointing that the visas are delayed. Hopefully things may speed up now lock down is easing?
I did read somewhere on a .gov site that they’re prioritising visas with exemptions.

Thanks for your reply Lee
My employer originally told me that the visa time can be rapid, but that was before lockdown.
I am also wondering how often exemptions are granted for doctors.

Hey sorry folks I was searching in the wrong forum! I’ve found some helpful responses in the temporary visa forum.

Hello everyone,
I searched the forum and couldn’t find any results related to 482 visas?
I have been sponsored for a medical job in Sydney. I am applying for my visa and an exemption to the travel ban (as a “critical worker”) next week.
Does anyone have any idea if the average processing times for visas are still accurate? The website says
- 75% of applications: 48 days
- 90% of applications: 64 days
Is there a benefit in using an agent in my situation?
Thanks for your help

Hello folks,
I'm a doctor, and I have a brother in Sydney. I've visited him twice now, most recently over Xmas. I decided I would try and apply for a job on my return, thinking I would never get anything in Sydney.
Well... I've been offered a position. To start in May! The employer has said they "manage the process of getting you a visa and registration" but can I really expect it to be as quick as three months??
I will be sent my contract next week. There's fifteen possible locations where I could be working, 12 of which are in northern sydney. Then there's three other rural locations - Orange, Broken Hill, and and Dubbo.
I am so ready for a change in life that I've thought I'd accept the offer even if they give me a rural location. I'm not sure if I'm being rash though!
Thanks for reading this ranting post :)

Yeah it was pricey! I didn’t fancy being bumped from economy repeatedly though. Sydney, fingers crossed.
