    Hi JessiQ,

I had the same situation just like yours, I worked as a network security specialist previously. When I did my skills assessment it came out as "Not Suitable for migration". Then I submitted another document from my previous employer and it came out right. But ACS took 4 years out of work experience.

I don't know what to do next, so I jumped in here.

Sorry to hear that. I guess maybe security specialist need more oversea experience to be taken away which sounds totally unfair. But still, as @Devl Prog 186 DE said, home affairs may still give you a positive assessment anyway. Best wish for your application!

    Hi,

    Thank you for answering.

Have you or anyone you know applied in the same scenario?

Yes, all my experience (close to 4 years) is noted in my skills assessment. Are you sure that the experience before the skills requirement met date counts too?

    Thanks again.

It sounds a bit odd to take 4 years from your oversea experience. I've done 2 skill assessments with ACS before (1st try was not successful). My 5 years of oversea experience was not identified at all in my first try. I then uploaded more documents to prove my case and then they only took 2 years off that. Maybe consider provide more documents especially make sure your oversea position description completely match 'ANZSCO Code 262112 (ICT Security Specialist)'.

I was a project manager and a programmer at the same time when I worked oversea. But in order to make sure my position match what I applied for. I only mentioned my position as 'programmer' and asked my former employer to provide a reference letter to compliance with that.

My former employer was very surprised that I didn't want to mention anything about my PM role in the company (since it regards as a higher position than programmer in the company). I explained to them that if I apply for a job, the more roles I have played the better. But when it comes to skilled immigration, the simpler the easier.

I am not sure if your previous position is exactly named as 'ICT Security Specialist' or not. But if not, maybe consider describe it as totally undebatable to the position. That's what I've done to my oversea position and I've never regretted about that after the 2nd skill assessment was recognised successfully.

    Hi Guys,

I've been here a silent reader for few months and today I'm sharing my visa status with you all.

    • Visa : 186 DE
    • Role : Developer Programmer
    • Nomination applied- 13 DEC 2019
    • Visa Applied- 05 FEB 2020
    • Onshore : Yes
    • No of applicants 2️⃣
    • State: VIC
    • Nomination Status - Approved 10 Aug 2020
    • Medical requested - 25 July 2020

At the moment, I was unable to make the medical appointment as all the Bupa centres in VIC have been closed due to stage 4 restrictions. I'm just wondering, whether any of you going through the same situation as I am.

Don't worry. I've been through this when there was stage 3 lockdown in March. They just closed temporarily. After about 1 week or so, they will start to allow you to submit appointment requests through their website and gradually arrange the checks. When new appointments are ready to book, they will send you a unique SMS message where only requested customers can book first. (It took about 1 month after I submitted my appointment request.) In other words, they will not run in full capacity but sooner or later you will be able to finish the check as long as you submitted the request before or your earlier appointment was cancelled due to lockdown. Home Affairs won't progress your application until health examination is done. The CO is aware of the interruption of the health check therefore the 28 days limitation will be waived.

    • Thanks 1
  4. Hi guys, finally halfway through after being deadly silent from Home Affairs. Nomination approved yesterday and s56 request received. Signature updated as following.

    * FYI, the home country police check must align with Home Affairs document's authority requirement. We incorrectly uploaded the original check papers but they need a notary certificate. It seems that they have various requirements for different countries. Here is the reference link they attached in my s56 Request: (Select your own country and scroll down to Police check section)

    https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/help-support/contact-us/offices-and-locations/offices-outside-australia

I guess if we had known this before, the visa would have been granted along with the nomination. But now I have to wait until Monday when notary office opens to get the documents done.

Nevertheless, good news after all and I hope this can help to speed up someone else's application.

Sorry for replying again here instead of sending you a private message. I tried sending you a PM but I think I'm restricted to do so.

That's good to hear. At least I have an option of being sponsored under the 186 DE scheme if my employer approves. As for the skills assessment, I don't need to worry about it cause I also lodged an EOI for 189/190 which requires the skills assessment. Still no luck of getting an invite for 189/190 so I'm just trying to exhaust all my possible options and plan ahead.

I'm just confused as to why employers still opt to apply for 457 or TSS if they can just go straight to 186 DE. Or is it because since 186 is a PR visa, it is more difficult to apply and meet all the requirements for that visa?

Hopefully my last question, do you know what will happen if I've lodged my visa application but the nomination gets refused? Am I eligible for a refund for that reason?

    Thank you so much.

    Private message sent.

Wow, thank you so much for this! This is really helpful and has cleared my mind from all the questions that I had in mind.

Just one more question, in terms of nomination by the employer/sponsor, is it more beneficial for the sponsor to go through the TRT scheme than the DE scheme? I mean is the other scheme easier and less hassle for the employer than the other scheme? Or basically, they are just the same and the employer will undergo similar process for both schemes?

As far as I know, TRT probably even needs more documents than DE as your employer needs to make a formal statement to confirm you have worked 3 years under 482 visa whereas DE doesn't. In terms of costs, they are the same.

I remembered many documents my employer used for temporary visa nomination are in the same form of information they provide for 186 DE. However, not being an employer myself, I can't really tell any difference between DE and TRT as I never heard any hassle complaint from my employer.

Hi, I know this is probably not the best thread for my questions and I'm really sorry for that.

I'm just really desperate to find answers to my questions so I decided to just post my questions here since they're also about ENS 186.

    1) If I'm on my 482 visa and eventually my employer will be willing to convert my 482 visa to 186 (TRT scheme), will I be eligible to apply if I've been employed by my sponsor for  3 years but only 2 years under the 482 visa? My first year with the company is under 476 visa. Or should we opt for the direct entry scheme?

    2) In connection with question #1, is it allowed to apply through DE scheme even if I currently hold a 482 visa? I'm afraid that the DE scheme is solely for those who haven't been under the 482 visa.

    3) Are there significant differences (pros and cons) when applying through TRT or DE schemes?

Really hoping for your answers. Thank you so much and apologies again if my questions are off topic.

Different to your visa subclass, I am currently under 457 which is the predecessor of 482 TSS Medium-term stream. They are the same under this circumstance.

    1) The TRT scheme require 3 years of the same employment under 457 or TSS visa. I don't believe 476 is a subclass of TSS, therefore, the one year you worked for your sponsor before you got 482 cannot be added into the TRT scheme eligibility. Direct entry is a better option I think, otherwise you will have to wait for another year to be eligible.

    2) 186 DE scheme has no prior condition for visa status, nor does it require you to apply onshore or offshore. In another word, regardless of you visa status, as long as:

    1. employer is willing to nominate you for DE scheme

    2. your occupation is on the list of eligible skilled occupations

    3. you receive a positive skill assessment from the appointed institution

    4. have at least 3 years relevant work experience

    5. have at least Competent English level

You can even apply before you have any kind of Australian visa.

    3)

TRT pros: No need for skill assessment

TRT cons: 1. Have to wait until you have worked 3 years for your sponsor under 482 visa; 2. At the moment, TRT processing time (7~8 months) is longer than DE (4~6 months). However, processing time is subject to change from time to time

DE pros: 1. Eligible any time as long as you meet the aforementioned requirements; 2. Quicker processing time

DE cons: Need skill assessment from appointed institution

Hope the answers can help you and feel free to send me message if you have further questions.

    Hello All,
I guess that nobody is getting the PR grant in last few weeks or the people are not updating in the forms!!!

Just wanted to know Is the Immi working now-a-days?? If anyone is asure please do let us know as the time is Killing with Coronavirus.

    Thanks

It seems that they only take in nurses or occupation in health sectors. Other occupations have to wait until this ends.

    Hello All,

I’m wondering because I’ve not seen any grant in last few days except the one who applied as a Nurse. Did anyone got the grant or got change in status from Receive to something else those who had applied in Dec 2019.

Please update as the time is killing and the rumors too for Corona!!!!

Personally, I think under the current climate, positions among health or medical sectors will surely deserve higher assessment priority. Other industries, especially hospitality, might have to hang up a little bit. For example, the federal government announced last weekend, a 1,500/fortnightly wage subsidy will be available for the employees whose employers' revenues are badly straitened by the shutdown, and this so called Jobkeeper subsidy is only applicable if you're an Aussie or PR. If I were them, I wouldn't grant a lot of PR visa to the ones who work in the affected businesses in recent days, to be honest.

However, I hope I was wrong about the assumption. This is a very stressful time for a lot of new applicants as the uncertainty is still months ahead. Let's just put ourselves together and move on.  Just hope for the best and prepare for the worst. Everything should be fine on the other side of the crisis.

Is bupa medical examination still running in Melbourne? Submitted form on Tue 31 March, have not heard anything.... any insights or updates?

According to their website, they are currently working on the schedule based on Department of Home Affairs guidance of the assessment priority. I submitted the appointment request form Friday, 27 Mar. Based in Sydney, nothing either...

I guess all we can do is wait now.

It these any impact COVID-19 on current onshore/offshore PR applications?

I think, it'll only impact on all offshore applications, department won't grant any offshore Visa till further notice.

    What do you reckon guys?

In light of the COVID-19, PR applicants cannot take health examination recently as the health check provider in Australia - Bupa has closed all new bookings. They say the reopen date is not able to provide. Under this circumstances, anyone who is still in Australia and applying for application cannot be proceed if the health examination is not done before.

That's what I know so far.

  12. Hi Everyone,

I have two questions regarding Health Examination.

    1. My nomination was lodged on 4 Feb 2020. I don't know if it has been approved or not as I guess only the MA can track the status of that. However, when the primary visa application is lodged today (18 Mar 2020), I received Health Examination action required right away. Does that mean the nomination has already approved?

    2. I followed the instruction of the Health Examination, printed the reference letter. But when I tried to book it, I found the Bupa Medical Visa Services is not available for new bookings due to current COVID-19 virus situation. The immigration department suggest that I only have 28 days to respond to their request. However, Bupa didn't mention when the new booking will be open again. What if they didn't open it in the next 28 days. Does that mean my application will be refused due to unable to provide the health check result in time?

Anyone in the same circumstance? I would appreciated if you have any suggestions.
