  1. Converting 173 to 143 is really quick. Your place in Australia is already guaranteed. Immi is processing March 2024 at the moment. Bridging visa only enter into effect when 173 expires.

    Hi everyone,

I have been reading through the comments and trying to wrap my head around this whole process.

My mother in law is currently here on 173 and waiting on her 143. She had two sons my brother in law who has been a citizen for 6+years and my husband currently PR waiting on citizenship.

We received notification of her queue date - 06 NOV 2018.

Does anyone have an idea on what the timeline on on visa processing or grant would be from here?

We have gone through sponsorship-PR-citizenship but this process for parent visa is a bit mind blowing/confusing.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Conversion 173>143 queue is in December 2023.
I didn’t understand. If she is here on 173 why you mention queue date 2018? When 173 expires, she’ll have bridging visa, as she applied for 143 being here on 173, right?

Perhaps the people that migrated made their decision to move here on the basis of there being a parent visa available - which until a couple of years ago had a processing time of 18 months attached to it on the Immi website.

I raise my hand to that! I and my wife Brought (paid for) our 5 dependents (back then) education, so they could migrate and We would follow afterwards.

What date did you apply for your visa? There was a surge of visas granted towards the end of last year and I think they would have been in a similar timeline to yours. If so, it’s possible that something has been overlooked. I know there have been situations in the past when Centrelink approves the AoS, but fails to tell immi. Have you emailed a copy of the AoS confirmation to your case officer?

Would you please let me know when you applied fo 173?

Hi all just giving an update that we received 2nd VAC request FINALLY yesterday. Words can't express the feeling of relief and happiness.

As soon as Visa is granted I'll do another update. The next chapter to start now, thinking about the move during this pandemic, with flights from Brazil all going via US right now with a minimum 55hr journey. Hopefully vaccine will be available soon and things get bit better this year. Thanks to all of you who contribute to this forum. It has been an amazing support.

    Congrats Mate!

R you Brazuca (Brazilian)? Good to know.

My wife and I waiting on the queue... it’s moving!

  6. FYI,

    • Auto response  Email From immi on 10/01/2020

Please note that the Department is required to process Parent and Contributory Parent applications in date order and within annual limits. We have identified some discrepancies in processing times between offshore and onshore visas in both Parent and Contributory Parent categories and are taking action to correct them.

     * Onshore Contributory Parent (UU884 and DG864) visa subclasses have been assessed up to January 2017. Onshore Contributory Parent visas lodged from January 2017 onwards are likely to take longer to process while we action offshore Contributory Parent (CA143 and TU173) applications to bring the dates back to parity.
