I studied here, applied for a skill assessment (aitsl), applied for 189 and 190, currently working (more than one yr experience). Why would you think that I lodged an eoi prior to the skill assessment?!

The only reason I am asking about the sponsorship is because I am currently working at a public school and they offered me a permanent position but I can't accept it. Anyway I have spoken to teach nsw and public schools cannot sponsor anyone.

How long have you been waiting Pamoushe? What are your points? Would private/independent schools sponsor?

I thought secondary teachers could no longer apply for 190 NSW? Well not from offshore as they have put conditions on now that you have to have worked in Australia for 2 years? Maybe I’m wrong...

If applying for 190, Secondary teachers must have a minimum of 1 year experience in New South Wales

I believe you misunderstood me. I submitted my EOI since 23/02/2019 for both 189 and 190 NSW with 70/75 points as a secondary teacher. I have a positive skill assessment for my qualification. I started working as a full time teacher since 28/01/2019. My question was: in order to claim 5 additional points, will I have to wait until 28/01/2020 (summer break inclusive) to request a skill assessment for my employment or can I do it in December since the school year ends in December 2018 (summer break not inclusive although my contract ends in February 2020)?  I contacted AITSL and they informed me that if I request an employment assessment in December then they will put the date as December 2019. However, I have to check with the Department of Home Affairs to see if I can claim 5 points before january 2020. Logically, it is summer break, I will be receiving my salary but I won't be teaching. It is just that I don't want to lose time, I am trying to gather more points as soon as possible. As a teacher, a one year experience is equivalent to 4 terms.

Technically you are still 'working' during summer break as you are getting paid. Teachers are expected to work through holidays. Therefore you should be able to claim your 5 points in January 2020 exactly a year after you started working.

  4. Secondary School Teacher - 70 points and 75 with state (NSW) that I can't even apply for now until l claim 1 year experience (June 2020).

According to AITSL, if the work experience is undertaken for at least four consecutive weeks and at least 20 hours per week. What does this mean exactly if I work full time for a year (60 hours a week).

    Appreciate anyone's help
