Consulting an agent is always a good idea.
You could also contact the OT Council and ask if there are any bridging programmes that you could perhaps complete in Australia to become eligible for registration.

We've got a pre-invite from the ACT and am currently filling in the form.
In the Employment section they ask for details of a contact person for each employment.
Will they ring them for a reference / confirmation ?
They also ask for contracts and payslips so that should be sufficient evidence. My visa plans are not known to my manager and I'd like to keep it that way.

As long as your qualifying course was approved by the WFOT, it doesn't matter if you've got a BSc or an MSc. A post-registration MSc is not required and does not give you additional points. You can check all approved programmes here:
https://www.wfot.org/programmes/education/wfot-approved-education-programmes
The OT Council of Australia assesses skills for immigration purposes and they have a step by step guide on their website.

Have a look at this document and see which Anzsco code covers what your partner does.
Depending on what he actually does in his job and what subjects he studied, he might come under a different job title for skill assessment purposes (which might open up other avenues for a skilled visa).

@Serendipity
Hi
I'm a UK-trained paediatric OT currently waiting for an invite for a 189 and would be very much interested in this.
I've just registered so the system doesn't allow me to send pms. Could you pm me your email perhaps?
Thanks x
