Did you move to Australia midway through selling your property in the UK? Or did you rent it out and then decide to sell whilst in Oz?

We're just trying to figure out how on earth to time selling our UK house so that we complete in the weeks prior to flying. It seems like an impossible task.

We moved whilst selling so house was empty for a little while.  Good in some ways as I could get it packed up on my own timeline and cleaned the place top to bottom before I left...

  2. Thank you for all your replies...

Sadly after an hour on the phone (thank god for skype) Barclays are refusing to help in any way that's their policy we either go to branch (in UK) or do the daily limit of £50,000 they mentioned if we were premier account holders they would do £100,000 a day but were not allowed to change account...

Banked with Barclays for 25 years had mortgage and everything with them so once moneys out everything will now be emptied and closed!

Also there's a so called lockdown in the UK so why are they telling us to go to the bank 🤬!

  3. I think we've looked at torfx and a couple of others but we need the money here for next week for our mortgage here. ...exchange and completion got held up in uk so it would have been fine had it not been for that! Really not useful when you cant speak to England only India....

  4. Hi,

We are in the process on trying to send our life savings to australia so we can purchase our house here however barclays are saying we can only transfer £50,000 a day rather than in one go and we need to visit a branch with Id if we want to change it! Bit of a problem when your 9000 miles away.....

Can anyone offer any wisdom is there any way we can do it in one go?

Thanks for any help stressed is an understatement 🙃

    Xx

  7. Hi

Has anyone shipped an e-bike over recently and if you did was it just included in your container and did you have to apply for a licence to ship it?

Thank you so much. Appreciate your efforts in taking time to answer my questions.

just to clarify - Employer nomination fees is  paid by the employer and the base applicant fee is paid by us right ?

They also have to pay into a special fund as well as the nomination fee which can be upto 5000$ depending on business size/turnover

    Congratulations on your visa grant.

I am trying to negotiate an offer with 186 visa sponsorship which is getting a bit complicated.  I would like to understand what stops employers from sponsoring 186 visa?

Probably that your not legally expected to stay with employer for 2 years and they could spend the money just to have you walk away...(although it wouldn't look good for you)

Thanks. I waited for a week to get called. I am based at Melbourne, I don't know how long in other places. According to Bupa, Immi has certain priorities as you may see from Bupa website.

Husband is in Perth waiting for his, I'm in UK and completed ours so it's just his outstanding now.

  11. Thankyou both, family still living in uk for now until permanent Visa sorted so they are still living in uk house. We have looked into trying to get a different accouant just not getting any replies. Hopefully some of the people Marisa mentioned can point me in the direction of a company theyve used/know...

  12. Hi

Currently on temp visa but looking at being sponsored on a 186 all being well however I still have house/family in the uk how do I go about sorting what tax I owe and where.  Asked my normal accountant and they told me I needed to find a new accountant so really helpful...

    Thanks in advance

    My recommendation:

    1) Obtain independent advice regarding the eligibility for PR through the 186;

    2) Make sure it is in the contract that they will sponsor for PR 186 within a certain time frame. Managers and HR people who made the original promise can change roles.

Thanks for replying I think they are going to engage their agent now hes accepted so got that covered hopefully but very good idea re the contract thank you.

Yes, it's possible for the 482 and 186 (Direct entry) visas to be lodged at the same time or immediately one after the other.

Thank you, I'm so confused the immi site says you have to work for employer for 3 years once you've got a 482 Visa which would preclude us from gaining pr as he will be 47 by then...and that's if they dont change if all again in the mean time...

If you go on a temp visa, you should assume that is all you will have. Even if at the moment the company are happy to look at PR sponsorship, a lot can change or simply not happen. For example, I have worked with big companies in Perth who suddenly without warning announced a ban on any sponsorship. I was lucky with the first as my 186 had just been lodged days before.

Also, the rules change and even if they don't and the company wants to, the 186 has a very high refusal rate by the department. So, if you go, assume you are going back to your home country at the end of the visa.

Thanks for the reply its appreciated.

  16. Hi

Another question I'm afraid....my partner has been offered a full time position in perth and they are prepared to sponser him, however they need him asap so want him go out on a 482 visa and then after 6 months they have said they will start process of 186  as after this time his age will stop us getting any visa!

I'm not sure this is actually possible though...I'm reading conflicting things.

    Any thoughts?
