does anyone who applied last year have any updates on their progress. Applied earlier this week and would be nice to keep track of how long they are roughly taking?

Applied 28th Jan 2019 from London, RFI 5th December 2019, Medical / Police check early December as we were thinking they’d be requested for in December anyways :)!  🤞🏻 fingers crossed we will hear by the end of Jan! Might be being over hopeful though!

That’s disgusting they wait 9 months before requesting further information. I was told when I called them that they start working on your file right away, surely it doesn’t take 9 months to realise information is missing. I was also told that hubby shouldn’t have submitted the medical and police check as it could run out before it gets approved. However it was requesting the medical on the dashboard. It’s a lot of money you’re paying them, so they should be expected to be competent in their processing of it.

It’s not great, and it is a large expense upfront but it is what it is! They have a lot of applications to look through and would hope they’re thorough with everyone! In the great scheme of things, waiting 12+ months isn’t that bad if it means I get to spend the rest of my life with my husband in Aus!

In our case the extra information requested was in relation to a specific timeframe of our relationship which hopefully means they’ll be granting both 309&100 at the same time! Just additional proof of de facto status!

Yes we waited until we were requested for medicals / police checks they are an added expense wouldn’t want to spend the money twice!

Here’s hoping that they process the RFI super fast would be a lovely entrance into 2020!

You know I did wonder that and wanted to ask about it, but didn’t want to cause offence. But glad you confirmed what I thought. It’s not a desperate situation for people to get out of the UK as it would be for less fortunate countries. All I can do is hope, pray and play the lottery hahaha.

My husband and I have applied from the UK, we had 9 months waiting before there was a request for further information! The waiting game is horrendous and we probably still have another 3 months to go at least but it’s progress!!

Ah my emotions right now... It's not even an approval, but we have had an RFI.

They are requesting evidence of the length of our relationship for at least 3 years, in particular financial and household. We had provided loooadss of evidence on this already, but I guess its back to looking it over and re-submitting, seeing if we can find anything extra to add. The other RFI is for evidence of my (the sponsor) Italian citizenship - I have dual Aussie and Italian citizenship (so luckily have been able to be with my partner in England whilst we wait!). This one I think will be trickier as all I have is my Italian passport and they said they need more than that. So recruiting my dad to get any evidence he can find (his birth certificate, my Italian grandparents birth certificates, proof of their aussie citizenship etc). Not exactly sure what I need ! But hopefully I can gather enough / the right evidence in the 28 day time limit! Eeeeeek.

Man my heart is beating so fast, I am at work and have downed tools because I cannot concentrate. And this is just for an RFI ! I will be a mess if/when the visa finally gets approved.

It's my work Christmas party tonight and I had planned on it being a quiet one, but I need a drink (or 5) to calm my nerves!!

Ahh that’s exactly how I was when we got an RFI for my husbands application last week!!! We needed proof of being defacto for a specific period so we submitted some extra info and statements from people too as our agent suggested, as we didn’t have bills etc!

good luck with the extra info and don’t stress you’ll be fine 28 days is enough time!

We applied end of Feb 2019 from London too! So glad to see they’re moving through applications 🙂 now I wonder how long we’ll have to wait to find out if it’s enough! Hopefully no more than 2/3 months!!!!

  7. Hi guys!

RFI this morning for my husbands application!

309/100 applied feb 2019 (From London)

Police Check / Medical Dec 2019 (we already started the process to arrange prior to RFI and have medical booked for next week!)

The RFI wants more information about us being defacto from feb 2016 - feb 2019 and our relationship being genuine.

Technically we only started living together from September 2019 while I was still tied to a rental agreement. This is something our Agent knew and didn’t see as a problem, from feb - sept 2016 my partner and I would spend half and half between my place and his and I have asked my old live in land lady to write a statement proving this including a period of 12 weeks when she was away and he stayed at my location the entire duration.

Anybody have any other suggestions for info we could provide?

    Feeling frustrated!

    Hi All,

I applied for my wife's visa subclass 309/100 in Feb 2019 and haven't heard anything yet.

    Applied from London

309/100 application submitted front loaded (no agent) -  22nd February 2019

    Police Checks - March 2019

police checks both Australian and British uploaded March 2019

    Medical - March 2019

    Moving to Brisbane

I think we applied only a matter of days apart from each other and similar situations including moving to Brisbane!!

We used an agent and have been advised to do medicals when requested so will be interesting to see when there is movement!

Fingers crossed it will be soon for both of us!

Our is taking a lot longer due to appeal process due to them not receiving any supporting evidence but should be done by January time.

With regards to you getting medical for your daughter. My daughter who is from a previous relationship is 12 and she will be staying with her mum here and our agent said she doesn’t need to have a medical as she won’t be moving with us. Hope this helps.

Yeah, Ray's son will be staying with his mum in the UK! But we were told by the agent that to be excused from him doing the medical, the waiver needed to be applied for! There was next to no additional information we could find online but fingers and toes crossed everything we have submitted will be enough and we'll be headed to aus soon!

  10. Hi everyone!

Submitted: 20th Feb 2019 (Through Agent)

Police checks & Medical: Not yet submitted (was told to wait until they were requested)

Aussie living in London with her English husband!

Together 4 years, Married for 1.5 years, 3 years defacto Sept 2019

Would LOVE to think that we’d be heading to Aus early 2020! Wait time was 12-18 months when we applied but has jumped 15-20 months but then dropped back to 12-18!

Used an agent because my husband has a 13 year old to a previous relationship, & contact is difficult, so far we have had unsuccessful contact with her to get confirmation about taking him for the medical or if she wants to deny it, on recommendation after 6 months unsuccessful contact attempts, we wrote a statement & submitted it in the hopes of waiving the need for a medical for him.

Have also been regularly updating my agent with poof of bills in joint names & joint account statements.

The waiting game is pure torture! So frustrating that you cant view anything! So spending my days down the rabbit hole on forums & researching job prospects!

Has anybody had experiences with the waivers or applied similar time to us and have any movement?

  11. Hi,

I am Aussie from QLD & my husband is from the UK. Been with my partner for 3 years total, married for 1 of those 3 years! We have lived together for 2 years, 1 year with his family while we were buying our home and the last 12 months have been in our own home. We were married in Brisbane in 2018.

We have no children to our relationship, however my husband has a 11 year old son from a previous relationship, who he pays maintenance for but doesn't have custody of. His son wouldn't be coming with us but we would love to give him the option when he's old enough to decide for himself later in life.

Has anybody had experience with this & could provide advice as to if it effected their  application? Our original plan was to apply for Visa's once his son was 16, however due to family illness on my side we have had to make the decision to move our timeline forward quite a few years so that I am able to help care for them, we are hoping that the amount of time we have been in a relationship will still qualify us for the partner visa, we were planning on doing it ourselves without assistance from an agent.

Any advice or opinions would be appreciated, we are looking to start the application in the end of Jan 2019/Feb 2019.

    Thanks.
