Immigration is becoming very strict with 186 applications. The refusal rate has gone through the roof and more often than not, case officers will not request further documents. If anything is missing, they will refuse the application with no request.

The Department of Home Affairs website does contain a checklist, although the required documents will vary in each situation and are somewhat company dependent.

Why are the company insisting on doing it themselves? Have you offered to pay for the nomination process?

I think that's a wise decision.  Until a couple of years ago, we (I) did the nominations ourselves and fortunately we were always successful.  But when thinking about the fact that the process is getting more complex, Immigration is taking a harder line on nominations/applications, and this is people's lives we're affecting, I told management we were going back to using an agent again.  They were fine with this decision.

With each application, our migration agent is requesting new/different information as he says they're seeing more and more requests for additional details so referring to the published checklists may not be enough.

I guess they want to do it themselves because they think it’s easy enough and they would save some money.

I am going to ask my agent to do their nomination for them and I will pay the $3k.

I am lodging my application for the ENS186 in the next few weeks, after my employer lodge their nomination, on the 8th of October, which is only few days after my 2-year anniversary with them.

I am using an agent to lodge my application but my employer is lodging the nomination without the help of any agent.
The HR person who's lodging the application, she made a big mistake on my 457 two years ago, when she put 26 months on the duration of my Visa because she saw it on another application...
She feels pretty confident that the nomination application isn’t too difficult and they have all the documents they need.

To be honest I feel a bit concerned and my agent quoted me $3000 to do the nomination for the employer too.

I spoke to my boss and to the HR person and we decide to go through the nomination together.

On the Home Affairs website I found these two pages that speak about the needed documentation for the nomination:
