Yes, you are at a disadvantage, I'm afraid. Too many companies have rigid rules which say that employees must be permanent residents or citizens, and their managers aren't allowed the latitude to break the rule.
that's what I thought too! I read somewhere that companies want to avoid paperwork? not sure what they mean about that

hi all! anyone here on a 300 visa or was previously holding a 300 visa? how did you go with job applications? does it really discourage potential employers that we are on a temp visa? been applying with no luck
Thanks in advance.

Hey everyone! I hope some of you know what could I do in my situation.
I applied for PMV visa on 06/07 and have been waiting still. My BF and I are going on holidays for 2 months. As far as I understood , if I leave the place where I usually live I should change my address and phone number in Immi account.
I am going to attach tickets and hostel bookings there, but I am not really sure what I should do with the phone number and address.
Any travellers on this forum? What do you usually do?
Thanks in advance!
Hi Sharfy.. I don't think you have to update it since you are not moving permanently. After 2 months are you going to return to your current address?

Congrats!
Was it processed in Dubai? Were you contacted for further info?
Thank you!! Best Christmas gift! We hired a migration agent based in Brisbane so she would ask us to submit updated evidence (photos, tickets, etc) every 3 months or so. But we have initially submitted a decision ready application.

I’m on 5 months 1 day of waiting....
Hi.. I'm new here. Application lodged 16th Feb 2018 and still waiting!
Our MA included this in the email when she sent us the acknowledgement letter:
Estimate processing time
After a recent update, the Department’s (DIBP) current estimated processing time is 12 months. Because your application is decision-ready and is being processed offshore, we estimate it will take less than the advertised processing time to process. Probably around 8 – 10 months.
