  1. Hey!

My PR was granted today after 12 months and 2 days!!! 5 days after my nomination was approved. Just had half a bottle of champagne haha!

No further documents requested; went from "received" this morning to "finalised" at around 5pm.

I went through such an emotional roller coaster the past 17 months, realise some of you have been waiting for a lot longer and wish you all the best.

I found being part of this forum both tough and very helpful. Tough because it's impossible to find a pattern and you simply don't understand why some people get their PRs faster than others, why your application gets rejected for a missing document and others have a chance to provide missing documents, left with a bitter and frustrating "why them and not me" feeling at times which isn't particularly healthy. But I'm still so grateful for everyone in this forum because the help and support it brought me outweighed the frustrations. And once the initial frustration was gone, I managed to feel joy each time someone got PR and it helped to tell myself that it meant my application was slowly making it closer to the top of the pile!

    2 key messages for you:

    - Don't waste too much time/energy looking for a pattern (even if it's tempting...), be patient and keep faith

    - Be happy for all the PRs granted and tell yourself that it means yours is 1 application closer to being looked at!

Good luck to everyone who's still waiting!!!

    @CharlotteR

    This is great news, congrats!

Remember though, that until they view your visa application and do something, your status shouldn't change.
    - Having the nomination approved doesn't update your visa status, it'll only update the nomination (a separate applications) status.

Ah good to know thanks a lot!

  3. Hi everyone,

I just heard from my MA that my employer nomination was just approved today (March 13, 2019), they're still processing my visa application.

After a first rejection over a year ago for 1 missing document that isn't even relevant to my job and re-applying almost 12 months ago exactly (March 16, 2018), I can't believe something positive has finally happened to me!!! 🤩 I'll update my signature once my immiaccount is up to date (still showing "received" and no update since 2018 and I'm a little paranoid with all this...).

Fingers crossed that my visa application will be approved soon... (there's a big risk they'll ask me to update my medical exams as they expired in September...)

Hope everyone gets good news soon!!!

  4. Just got an update from my MA: one of my colleagues just got her PR granted yesterday. Here are the details of her application:

    - Management Consultant (same job, position and company as me)

    - Direct Entry, 2 applicants, LR country

    - Nomination and application submitted: 12 January 2018

    - PR granted: 6 February 2019 (processing time of approx. 13 months...)

My MA believes I'll hear from immigration about my application in 2-3 months (i.e. processing time for me of 13-14 months...) However, I'm hopeful that it could be sooner if the theory about looking at applications by occupation is correct (i.e. if they decided to catch up on Management Consultant applications for instance!)

@CharlotteR If you received your bridging visas (which you would have been given on lodgement of visa) then you have your TRN number.

    - If you have your TRN number, you could simply login to your IMMI account and import your application. You could then keep track on it yourself, without having to ask your MA for updates 🙂

My MA told me that it wouldn't work, to not bother trying and just go through him but I just did what you suggested and it worked! Thanks a lot Hex 🙂

Probably your account haven't refreshed yet.

For most of us have immi is showing "11 months to 16 months".

OK that's not as bad as I expected, thanks a lot!

I can't access my application online, only my MA can and he tends to never give me any updates unless I ask for them... (he works for a super large company, mine is one of thousands of applications they manage per year) That's the main reason I'm so glad that this forum exists!

Your spot on. If you see applications being processed super quickly and way under the timelines, this will normally be why.

Probably but it doesn’t guarantee faster processing of PR applications and may depend on the job/industry: my company is an accredited sponsor who actually needs foreign employees at senior levels to survive (there just aren’t enough Australians with the right level of skills, experience and motivation to join our firm) and we get TSS visas granted for new employees very quickly but I’ve been waiting close to 10 months for my PR, no news...

I'm in a similiar situation Charlotte, I applied for my Nomination initially in June 2017 and it was rejected January 2018, reapplied for the Nomination and Application on 12th Feb. They requested AFP on 23rd november and still waiting on the decision. All in all just under 20 months of waiting.

So sorry to hear that... The fact they requested AFP end of Nov is hopefully a good sign, fingers crossed for you! My medical exam expired last September, my MA suggests I don’t renew it until immigration asks me to (to avoid having to do it over and over again if this whole thing takes much longer than expected), clearly no CO has been assigned to my application yet.

But it seems that very few March applications have been looked at which contradicts the new processing times... (hence my earlier message)

  9. Hello!

I realise that processing times are just indicative and members of this forum are a small sample of all applicants, but I don’t have a feeling that 75% of applications are processed in 10 months now: so far I feel that there are very few PRs from March, immigration seems to be still working on February...

Has anyone heard of March applications being processed that we wouldn’t know of?

I realise I should be patient as it seems that it’s “only” been 9.5 months for me but my first application from 2017 got rejected so I have thrown more money at this than expected and have been waiting a lot longer than it seems... For all of our sakes, I hope immigration will indeed manage to process applications faster as announced end of 2018! 🙂

    @maria8999It gets worse...

I have heard that next year March, they'll be amending the immigration law, allowing CO's to reject cases based off missing information.
    - Meaning, they don't even need to request additional / missing data. If it's not there - they will have the power to simply reject the application.

It's in an attempt to being queuing down and help with processing times.
    - There's obviously massive issues with this approach, especially for people who are doing it themselves.

Regardless, I heard about this about a month ago and can't find the article on same now, but it's definitely something in the making - my MA confirmed the same, a while back.
    - I'd love to hear from anyone that has heard the same and has the articles of same.

I think we can be lucky to already be in the system, as i'm sure there will be leaniansy on those who've already appplied.

This is also a great way to get more money from future applicants who will have to apply multiple times and renew police checks, medicals, etc, who cares if they can’t afford it. It’s so sad...

How absurd and unfair. Really makes me wonder what goes on in there. I just can't believe they just dump you like that. ' Oh we don't have all the info we need to make a decision, we could easily ask for it, orrrr we could just keep numbers and wait times lower and just reject' Maybe the CO had a bad day. 😡

Did you supply a letter stating genuine need for you in your position? And did you use an MA?

Did you appeal and reapply at same time?

Yes my employer supplied a letter stating genuine need for me in that position, I had 6 years of experience at that position with the same firm in France (transferred to the Sydney office, namely because they desperately needed people with my skills and level of experience).

I have an MA which my employer chose from one of the big 4 companies.

I was told by the MA that I could either appeal or reapply but not do both at the same time. He also told me that with appealing it can take up to 2 years to get an answer. And it doesn’t guarantee a PR... I had 5 days to make a decision and pay approx. $5,000 all over again for the second application. My company helped me out because they felt partly responsible and I just didn’t have that kind of money at the time...

On what grounds did you get a rejection?

Immigration apparently wasn't convinced that my company needed me (which is strange as they'd been accepting PRs for colleagues of mine for years and accepted another 2 this year) - they claimed that they were missing some proof and gave the org chart as an example. They wanted to see which position had been vacant for a while and how I was the only one who could fill that vacancy. This is actually very strange as there are no org charts in consulting (the more staff we have the more work we can sell so the more work we have...) and they had never requested this type of document in the past...

Instead of requesting this "missing document", they rejected the nomination and I had to start from scratch...

Crazy that there was a few people getting there VISA's in March, when there's still many in Jan  / Feb waiting.

Makes me think, that on the TRT streams at least, with cases where there has been a previous nomination for the same occupation, in the same company, this can help stream line the process for the Department.

My friend got his 186 TRT last month, applied in Feb, Nomination and VISA approved in the same day, the previous month, his friend after a longer wait got his 186 TRT in the same company, in the same position. Just a thought....

Like all of us here, I would love to understand the logic/pattern but am afraid there isn't really any and we have to accept that it's a fairly random process overall!

I may be a very strange case and immigration may have something against me personally but here's why I don't think there's a real pattern:

    - I applied for PR over a year ago from a LR country, with a job on the skilled list which I've been doing for over 7 years, as 1 applicant and sponsored by a company which has had 100% successful PR applications before and even after mine - somehow my nomination got rejected in February 2018 due to a couple of missing document (incl. an org chart, which doesn't even make sense in my profession where we don't actually report to anyone...) - I heard people saying that most rejected PRs concern HR countries, jobs not on the list and/or multiple applicants on 1 application but I'm proof that it's not always true

    - My employer has been sponsoring up to 4-5 PRs per year for over 5 years as they really struggle to retain Australians and need immigrants to survive (they exclusively hire Australians and Kiwis as junior consultants but they tend to leave to get an MBA, don't come back so they need immigrants to fill in for the more senior positions in the firm) - 2 of my colleagues who applied in January 2018 got their PRs as follows: 1 was from a LR country and he got his PR in May (after 4 months) and the other is from a HR country, applied with her husband (who didn't have a visa) and got her PR in August (after 7 months)... Clearly immigration doesn't have issues with my employer but for some reason, I've gotten a rejection and have been waiting for close to 9 months since my second application now...

Don't know if this helps in any way but the key message here is to not expect an outcome at a certain time based on a logical pattern which may not exist, just hope for the best and be very patient! 🙂

I sincerely hope that we'll all hear good news very soon!

  14. Hi CPP,

So sorry your about your rejection...

I can try to answer question 1, don’t know enough to answer question 2.

My first nomination application was also rejected last Feb due to a couple of missing documents (org chart mainly which is ridiculous as we don’t have org charts in Management Consulting, they wouldn’t make sense...). I was given the same options as you: appeal or reapply. Was told that appeals can take up to 2 years, cost money and the outcome is not a PR. My MA suggested I just reapply as it’s quicker and more efficient. I can maybe ask for a refund of one of my applications later if the second application is accepted (but not even sure as apparently immigration is now finding it normal to just reject applications, ask us for more money and to start over if a document is missing, which I find quite shocking: it’s a waste of CO time and they’re just taking more money from us...).

If you can’t reapply, go for an appeal of course.

    Hope this helps somewhat.

    Good luck!!!

Granted with the PR this morning for all 3 of us by Vic PSE. Thanks a lot for the members here who helped me in the journey. Hope others get their good news.

    Congratulations Brightlife!!!

It's really great to see a PR from a March 2018 application, it gives hope that processing times may not be as bad as expected for all of us (no guarantee of course but a good sign!)

Just adding to that my newborn was born overseas in India. So had to convince department to add child top exisiting application without being added to 457. That just got through on 12Oct so hence the recent request on medicals.

Hello Brightlife, could you add the exact date of your application and country of origin in your signature please? Thanks!

Congrats on having a CO assigned to your case! I believe you're the first March 2018 application that we've heard of being looked at so far.

My sponsor nomination is refused due training. We send them email Friday 2 pm after 2.5 years and Monday 1 o’clock their response was refusing nomination 👏 thank you Immi that was great news after waiting 2.5 years.

Probably will appeal this case soon. Less than 1 working day how could they see and decide this much quicker l. Where were you this all years.

    Speechless...

is there anyone took training refusal to the appeal. How long is gonna take any idea?

I appreciate to sharing any experiences.

My first nomination application was rejected last February due to missing documents which they never even asked me for... The immigration agent told me I could appeal the case but that could take up to 2 years and the outcome is not a PR, at best you get a refund and can apply again. It sounded like I could either appeal or reapply, not do both so I chose to reapply with the hope of getting PR instead of just a refund. If I manage to get PR this time around, I can apparently still request a refund as it's proof that they shouldn't have rejected my first application.

I recommend that you reach out to an immigration lawyer/agent as your case sounds quite different and you may not need to wait 2 years to hear back from an appeal. Good luck!!!

  18. I'm from the United States (LR country) and am the only person in my application: that didn't stop my first nomination from being rejected last March 2018 due to a few missing documents which they never asked me for (knowing my company has successfully sponsored many PRs in the past). There don't seem to be clear rules, not sure we can easily find a pattern here unfortunately...

They processed my first application quite quickly (applied Nov 2017, processed Feb 2018) but it was rejected. I reapplied in Mar 2018 and am still waiting for a response.

  19. Hello,

A few questions for you guys:

    1. Can you add my timeline to the spreadsheet if not already done?

    occupation: Management Consultant

    stream: DE

first nomination and visa lodged: November 2017

first nomination rejected: 26/02/2018 (due to a couple of missing documents such as my company's org chart which doesn't make a lot of sense in consulting...)

second nomination and visa lodged: 16/03/2018

    2. Has anyone from March 2018 received their PR?

    3. I took my BUPA medical exam in September 2017. My understanding is that it needs to be renewed every 12 months but according to my immigration agent, I don't actually need to do it again as case officers don't always request updated medical results... Do you confirm this or should I go ahead and do another medical exam just in case?

I'm very worried I'll get another rejection due to missing or outdated documents...

    Thanks

  20. Hello everyone!

    Here's my situation:

Applied for a 186 Direct Entry visa as a Management Consultant in November 2017, my nomination got rejected apparently due to a couple of missing documents end of February 2018...

I reapplied for a brand new 186 Direct Entry visa (after my employer added the missing documents) end of March 2018, it's been 6 months now, I'm still waiting for a reply. A couple of my colleagues just received their PRs having applied in early January 2018 with the same nomination application as me (these included the missing documents which were added to my new application).

I'm both very confident/hopeful that I'll get my PR within the next few months and terrified that it'll either get rejected again (the first rejection was a major shock, completely unexpected) or that I won't hear anything back for a very long time... I'm applying as a United States citizen.

Any insights you can share on the process for Management Consultants, American citizens specifically or applications submitted in March 2018 would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you very much and congrats to those of you who've received positive responses recently!

    Charlotte
