Hi,
I applied for a 186 Direct Entry visa lodged with a state school nom in Feb 2018 for primary teaching. On the same day my agent was very quick to lodge an EOI for a 190 visa too, without overly explaining the process. He then said as it had come back with a state invitation he thought it would be a good idea to run two visas at once, to 'fireproof my affairs'. He's mentioned things that could go wrong with my employment, however I have an ongoing contract and do not foresee any of these things happening. After receiving invitation he has renewed it twice, so if I don't accept it I'm presuming it will be taken off SkillSelect. He's said I also need to pay more money to him in order to lodge this second visa, as well as the $3800 odd for the second visa.
Does anyone do 2 visa apps really? Perhaps to cover my back if I get rejected when I'm on a bridging visa? Or is it an expense that I shouldn't be worrying about paying?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Yes, he is. I feel like he's covering himself (and myself a little), at a high price. As my 457 runs out in November I can't then apply for a 190 after that. If my 186 is rejected is it just the $1764 I would have to pay for an appeal - he has mentioned it is that x 2 - $1764 for the nomination and $1764 for the visa?
Thanks
