  1. Hi all,

Has anyone used Australia Post to take their UK passport photo? I've just uploaded the digital photo that they took of me and they obviously did it specifically for UK. However, the UK guidance says that you should have your head/shoulders/upper body showing in the photo and that it will be 'cropped later'. The photo Australia Post sent me is closer up and doesn't have my shoulders/upper body showing - it's as if they are already sending me the cropped one.

With current turnaround times of 'up to 10 weeks' I need the passport in that time so I don't want to risk a photo rejection.

Has anyone had experience with submitting a cropped photo - accepted or rejected?

    Thanks, much appreciated.

    Hi

Was a silent follower of this forum, want to share my timeline with all of you .

DOL: 16 march 2018 front loaded application through an Agent

Applied for family sponsored stream tourist visa : End of August

Tourist visa approved: In October (within 30 days)

I was in Australia when our Co first contacted and asked for additional docs which we provided with in a day . She asked for my return ticket .

    Departed from Australia : 14 Feb 2019 4 pm

    Got a grant letter : 14 Feb 2019  6pm

Hi True Living, do you mind me asking about the return ticket request? Do you mean the evidence that you have booked a trip to leave and return to Australia now that the visa will be coming, or do you mean the evidence of return you had already booked given that you were on a tourist visa. Thanks

No again you are just transferring assets not making them.  My accountant also advised that currency gains should also not be taxed in this sort of circumstance as you are not intending to make money from currency exchange rates, on the other hand if you lose out you don't get to claim a loss!

If however you make interest on the cash whilst it is deposited that should be reported and will be subject to tax as it is considered as income.

I would honestly advise you get an accountant to do your first tax returns in Australia.

Hi Rammy Girl, sorry to jump on this thread. Can you recommend your accountant? Also do they do Australian and UK tax returns? Thanks

While I admire your optimism, I think you should really be called TenThousandPoundPom. 🙂

Haha! My parents were of the ten pound pom era...actually they didn't even pay the £10, got their passage all paid for in the 70s! Dad does like a bargain.

Obviously I'm Aussie the visa is for my other half.
