They keep on talking about splitting Queensland again.
I hadn’t realised until I read an article today that we once had a North Australia Colony. I think this map was 1846 showing the divide.
After living in Cairns for a number of years I can understand their frustration and the want of going it alone. We missed out on everything and all the money was always spent on Townsville. I suppose those in Townsville felt the same about funds being spent in Brisbane etc.
Would a split of Queensland actually work? Where would you divide it from?
‘Could it legally happen?
There is a full chapter in the Constitution regarding separating states. You have three provisions which could legally allow it:
Provision 121: The Parliament of the Commonwealth could decide to establish a new state.
Provision 123: The Parliament of Commonwealth could decide, with the consent of the State Parliament, after the approval of the majority of voters in a State, to alter the territory.
Provision 124: State parliaments could decide to split or join two states together to form a new State.
Would you support it, personally?

Would be nice to have more people in regional Australia, where they are actually needed.

Depends on how the English tests go, 65 if I get 10 and 75 if I get 20. Annoyingly I'm 9 months shy of 8 years skilled employment- grrrrr!

Hi, maths teacher currently in process of applying for 189. Completing application for AITSL assessment and they want a 'final transcript' from both my ITT provider and university provider.
To my knowledge UK universities don't provide this. Did anybody apply and succeed without a final transcript?
How many points do you have?

Tbh, in my humble opinion, I feel that a new state of Northern Queensland should be created, so that it could be developed. It already accommodates a large population with 2/3 cities of 150k.
And have Cairns as its capital.

True. The government should definitely do more to encourage migrants/citizens to move to a ther cities and states. Then it definitely should be a win win for everyone.
Easier said than done tho. I guess they could start building more infrastructure in other cities. They definitely need to develop Northern Australia, including Northern Western Australia.
A % of the GDP should be allocated for developing Northern Australia, it has been ignored for far too long.

Good to hear the NT government is working on increasing the population.

There are so many places in Australia other than Sydney and Melbourne, which are amazing. Obviously depends on what you want in life tho.
totally agree with you on this, Gold Coast, Wollongong , the blue Mountains, Bendigo and byron Bay, to name a few.

Yes.
Yes.
A 'highly relevant degree' assessed as comparable to an Australian degree.
How many years work experience do you need? An what sort of degrees would be considered highly relevant. My friend has got a degree in business management and an OTHM level 6 Diploma in Health and Social Healtcare management, which on its own is considered equivalent to a degree.

Sounds like a good idea to grow regional cities.

Sounds like a fantastic Idea, Australia needs a much greater population with more cities, to be a global power.
And the bigger population will also boost the treasury, hope they use it for better infrastructure for the public though.

Has anyone applied under the above occupation? Do we need to have work experience to apply under that? And what qualifications do they expect?

Yeah we got an invite with 70 but waited around 5 months for it.
Ask AITSL for a skilled employment statement when applying. It’s free if done at same time and easier to submit to DIBP at application stage. They collate all your experience into a one page summary with their stamp on top.
What documents should we submit as evidence for work experience?

No. Applied from r the visa but just waiting for DIBP to process and request remaining bits. I think we under estimated how long everything takes but as it’s all equally expensive it gives us time builds the funds as well.
Have you submitted your application to A8tSL?
I havnt yet submitted it. So you got invited for 189 with 70 points?

I currently have 65 points and if I'm to submit an EOI now and update it then 3 months, what would be the EOI lodged date?
-
AITSL states on its website that it processes applications within 10 weeks, but how fast how you guys been getting it? DO they take 10 weeks for most applications? or do they tend to send it off earlier?

Why have you been asked to do an extra year?
