    Hi,

Can anyone let me know how difficult it is to apply WITHOUT AN AGENT for the subclass PR visa from 457. My employer will sponsor me.

The cost is an additional $4000 using an agent and my employer aren't paying so trying to keep the costs down.

Any advice much appreciated, any links to documents needed. I have checked out the government website (homeaffairs.gov.au) but found it a little confusing,

    Thanks,

    Ben

I applied for the ENS 186 TRT in April without an agent, although my boss has done nominations before with a different company.

Everything was pretty straight forward, just make sure you read everything and answer each question carefully... although I'm still waiting for mine to be processed so who knows if I did it right haha

I'm in the same boat as you. Submitted my application on the 30th March and my boss submitted the nomination the day before. We haven't used a migration agent. I did my police checks and everything the same week but left my medicals until a few months later.

I have now been waiting 8 months and the status is still recieved.

My girlfriend and 3 children are also on the application and like you said, we can't make any big decisions until our visas are granted. Very frustrating.

It's not a bad thing that you have already done your medicals and police checks, that way there's nothing to hold up your decision. Just bare in mind that if your waiting for more than 12 months you will most likely have to do all the checks again.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. Yes its so restrictive being on a 457 visa and being tied to your employer. It's only me on my application though so I hope it gets through quickly. Good luck mate

So, I am guessing your employer has done their part and that is all ok?

I would not have done police checks or medicals yet as they are only valid for 12 months and many visas take longer than that.

Hi VERYSTORMY, thanks for your response.

Yes my employer applied for the nomination on the same date.

Do you really think my visa could take 12 months to process? My police checks were done only a few weeks before applying, and my medical was only in August

  5. Hi there,

I'm currently on a 457 visa, and after completing 2 years of employment I applied for my PR on the 11th of April 2017 without a migration agent. As of today my immi account is still saying the application has been received and will be assessed. I have submitted all evidence, including police checks from the UK and Australia (clean), and my health exam came back clear.

I would like to know what the expected changes will be to this status within my immi account, and if it will notify me once a CO has been assigned. I know that current processing times are 8-10 months, but I also know of at least one person locally in a similar situation (457 to 186 ENS) that applied 2 months later and received their PR last week.

To be honest I'm just sat here worrying about it, as my entire life is on hold until this visa comes through. Is anyone else in a similar situation?

    Thanks in advance :)
