Hi Dennyboy, sorry to hear you are having so much trouble. We just submitted a copy of our UK passports to “demonstrate our right” to move back and live there. No other documents were supplied or even requested. Your removal company should help you with this though,  they will across these types of scenarios all the time. Good luck.

Thanks , will contact them  , also my Brothers having a word with the landlord . 👍

That’s very odd. When we moved back, we had no fixed address so used a relatives, we were not asked for any documents either.

No one moving back will have any evidence with an address on it, I would ask again.

Hey Den, have you made the move yet? I’ve got my citizenship 6 months ago, nothing left for in Oz, I’m aiming to return to the UK by next March (for good), so I better start planning the return move.

The very best of luck , it’s a bit of a pain but worth it . I’m just waiting on email regarding my tor form .
The earlier you start the better 👍

  5. I made the decision to return because sick of missing family , plus nothing left for me here and want cooler weather .

I lost my son in jan 2014 and wife left in the october , i have no family here and her lot just turned their back on me.

Miss home and family in a nutshell .

  6. I am so pleased for you , i'm in the process of doing it now .

Going for a quick holiday to find somewhere to live and its all systems go .

Got a quote for 3100 for dog and cat which is the cheapest so far , just have to open a bank account check about doctors and that should be it .

Just looking for a decent removal company .

  7. Hi , im looking at going back to uk in 3 months , i want to transport some electric goods including my pc .

Im not sure if this is a dumb question , but i have downloaded music , films and tv series on my pc ( nothing x rated ) .

would customs be ok with this or is it better to delete all downloaded content ?

You will need to complete a transfer of residence (TOR) form for HMRC to declare that you don’t need to pay VAT on any goods you are taking back. If you are moving an animal they need to be declared on it. If you are not taking anything other than a suitcase I don’t suppose you need to complete one.

Yes you will have to give notice.  What's more, you will have to tell the superannuation company that you're retiring. That's not a problem, because you can "change your mind" after you've got the money and they won't chase you for it.

Make sure you get the lump sum and put it in your bank account BEFORE  you leave Australia, otherwise you'll get done for UK tax.

Thanks marisa, this is great info , will look into doing this ASAP 😊
