Last second update! Just got the Golden Email, 186 trt granted!!Yes although not sure if its from the date of change in status or from the day the docs are submitted. Either way that's just a number game. Who knows when it will come through but am very positive this week. I just hope it comes today.
I feel so relieved, all in took 8 months from the application and only 2 days from the health exam.. go figure how this things work..
Wish all the best and luck to all!

Given the average you are close to the end, let me know how it plays outCongrats on the status changing to initial assessment. It is definitely a positive.
What this means is that they have started looking at your application. Once they receive whatever they have requested, they will review this again and the status at that point may or may not change to further assessment. Usually it changes to further assessment if they require some more documentation. Otherwise it will changed to Granted directly, provided all is good.
The time span though is the question here. On this forum the general consensus is that it takes about 34 days on average from initial assessment to decision ready but that's not saying that your application will take the same time. Could be less or more. I am in a similar situation as my application is also under initial assessment since Jan 28.
Good luck to you and hope we receive the much awaited golden email very soon.

Hi guys, been a silent reader for quite some time and I must admit this forum is great.
I have applied for 186 trt after 2 years of 457 as cook in sunshine coast.
I've applied for 186 2 applicants July 2018 and 28th February the department asked to do the Health Exam and that's it, I did it 2 days ago.
Has anyone been in a similar scenario?
Will this mean that a decision will be made soon?
The status on my immi account went from received to initial assessment.

immi is now calling and asking questions, they may ask around more than 20 questions on phone.
What kind of questions are they asking? I'm on 186 temporary residence transition steam

lI don't know how rocket science works, but I doubt it bears much resemblance to migration law.
Press releases and speeches amount to nothing legally and if you hang around the immigration world long enough you will discover that nothing is set in stone until it becomes law, and relying on rumours can have disastrous consequences.

Sorry I can't open the pic -
Good news for all who have been anxious since April. My agent has finally confirmed to me after getting official communication from DIBP:
Grandfathering Provisions for 457 Holders or Applicants as of 18 April 2017
The Department of Immigration has announced that 457 holders and applicants as of 18 April 2017 will not need to meet all of the new requirements. These "grandfathered" 457 holders have access to transitional provisions which would preserve their eligibility for ENS and RSMS through the Temporary Residence Transition Stream.
To be eligible for the transitional provisions, you must either have:
- Held a 457 visa as of 18 April 2017; or
- Have a pending 457 visa application as of 18 April 2017, and this application was subsequently granted
- Occupation: grandfathered applicants will be able to apply even if their occupation is not on the MLTSSL
- Age: they will be able to apply providing they are under 50 years
- Work Experience on 457 Visa: they can qualify once they have worked in their occupation for their employer on a 457 visa for 2 years
Grandfathered applicants will still need to meet the requirements for minimum salary (TSMIT) and payment of the training levy from March 2018.
Hi, could you tell me where your MA got this info? Is it on the website?
