  1. Hello Again,

I posted previously about adoption papers needed to apply for an Ancestry visa. Good news is all of that was sorted and I have now applied for my visa. Now I have another problem. I must admit I was a bit naive and thought my husband was included on my application as my dependant but when I finalised the application, I realised he wasn’t and he needs to apply separately. All well and good. Then the fun started. What visa does he need? There was no clear information on the UK Government website and links went around in a circle so I paid £1.xx per minute to talk to someone in the UK who advised he needs a “Non POints Based Working visa depandant more than 6 months”. We started filling it out online and there were many questions about income, employment, savings etc. My husband is 65 and not working. I am the breadwinner and in my application I stated my husband was coming with me and provided evidence with the bank statements etc that we would have enough money for us both to live in the UK together with me providing for us. I then paid another £6 or so to send an email to the UK asking this question but I haven’t got a reply. The catch 22 is to follow up I have to call the UK and pay for the £1.xx service fee again!

Does anyone know if we can put down his income as zero and make a comment at the end that I support him? Would I supply the bank statements and other things I provided with my application?  I have to say I am getting quite stressed out by this because I’ve applied now and if his visa doesn’t come through at a similar time to me we may have to travel separately. Or if we apply incorrect it will be rejected and we will have to pay another £516 application fee. I have even thought I might have to pay a lawyer or someone to help with his application although up to now I have always filled in all our visa and other applications myself without any problems. I don’t believe it should be complicated, I just need someone to give me a bit of advice please.

PS My husband would work in the UK if someone would employ him at his advanced age!
