Ah I see. Well since they have put the minimum points up to 65 many people who previously went for the 189 are now going for the 190 and 489. So they will be overwhelmed. South Australia doubled the wait time to 15 - 20 weeks. I am 6 weeks in and applied to SA fo state sponsorship.

I agree with JetBlast.... think things got a little crazy when they bumped up the minimum points for the 189 and everyone jumped ship to the 190 and 489 for the extra points!

JetBlast is that the wait time for state nomination now?

Ok thanks for the advice, I’ll keep you posted when I hear anything. My MA suggested that there was a back log in applications from before June. It’s just the uncertainty and trying to plan that’s frustrating.

Where are you thinking of moving to?

Looking at moving to the Sunshine Coast where there will hopefully be some work opportunities. Where are you looking at?

Yeah the uncertainty is a nightmare, I've tried planning as much as possible but reading on lots of forums and groups about the different timelines and nothing adds up... some people getting grants reasonably quick and some waiting a lot longer!

Can't seem to make any sense or reason of it.

Still it'll be worth it all in the long run

    Hi,

I’ve recently applied for regional sponsorship 489 as Diagnostic radiographer. I am currently waiting for an invitation to apply, it’s inly been 1 month. I have 70 points.

My agent said if we don’t hear by October we have to look at an alternative option. Is this likely to happen? My job role has consistently been on the list for years and are QLD likely just to decide they don’t want my application for not logical reason?

    Barry ?

    Hi Barry,

I'm a radiographer as well and am also heading to QLD on a 489 visa with 70 points.

I submitted the EOI back in April and received the initial state invite within a few days. Completed that and received the actual invitation a few weeks after. Lodged for the visa on 1st May and haven't heard anything since!

The whole process is unpredictable so can't really advise on how long the profession will remain on the list. I was under the impression the review it yearly but maybe someone else more in the know can advise you on this.

    Good luck

    Hi Guys

Just wanted to post an update, as today I received my Registration In Principle letter from AHPRA! To say I'm ecstatic is an understatement. Not sure if there have been changes in requirements at AHPRA or they were just happy with all my credentials, but I'm stoked either way. Possibly they were happy with my PGDip course on it's own, or the extra degree level study I have completed (ICU nurse course and mentorship) helped as well.

Now on to the ANMAC skills assessment..

    Hi LeeH,

Could you give me a rough timeline on your AHPRA application?

I'm waiting for a visa grant and trying to time everything just right so I can get flights out to oz and start job hunting asap.... obvs don't want to receive the AHPRA go ahead too soon and have to make an expensive trip out there!

    Thanks

Form 1221 https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/Forms/Documents/1221.pdf (at the top of the first page) it says

    About this form

This is a supplementary form required to support your visa application and is to be completed by all applicants who are 18 years of age or over.

    And form 80 https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/Forms/Documents/80.pdf says

Important – Please read this information carefully before you complete this form. Once you have completed this form we strongly advise that you keep a copy for your records. This form is to be completed in English by applicants who are 16 years of age or over, as requested by the office processing the application.

OK cool, thanks for the info Snifter

  6. Hi Guy's,

I'm going to lodge my 489 visa in the next few days for QLD and am trying to get everything ready to front load and hopefully speed up the process.

What are peoples thoughts/experiences of Form 80 and Form 1221? Are there many direct grants given without them or is it likely that I'll be contacted to provide them later on in the process?

    Cheers

  7. Hi All,

Quick question..... Who has to fill out (or is recommended to fill out) the forms 80 and 1221? Is it both for main applicant and partner or one for each person?

    Thanks in advance

    Gordon

  8. Hi all,

Received my invite for the 489 visa and just filling out the online form to lodge...... can anyone offer some advice on something.

Under my wife's details they ask if she has sat an English language test, she has not yet but we are booked to do so next week. If I lodge the visa with the information that she has not yet sat the test will I later be able to edit the application. For example I've read that without proof of English language ability there is a an additional fee (which is quite big).

I have already sat the test and we will be going on my points.

Any help offered greatly appreciated..... I want to get  this visa lodged asap :)

    Thanks

    Gordon

  10. Hi Woody2709,

    Thanks for the reply.

He lives within the family area postcodes, so I'm trying to work out which will give me access to the most areas so I can move around as freely as possible to check out more areas for living and have greater access to work locations.

Do you know if the family sponsorship ties me down to a certain area such as where my brother lives?

Or will it give me access to the regional area postcodes plus the family area postcodes?

    Thanks

    Gordon

  11. Hi All,

Could anyone advise on which one is the better option...... success/processing time/priority etc?

I'm looking at Queensland and my brother lives there so family sponsorship is an option but wanted to know if they give priority for one over the other. If anyone has any experience or knows of the pro's and con's I would love to hear them.

    Cheers

    Hello Gordon.

I had a similar unknown query last month. I kept my 189 running clicked on 190 and then registered a new eoi for new South Wales under 190.

Hope that helps and good luck xx

Thanks Saffys, yeah I figured it out now and have done the same..... fingers crossed!

    What are you applying for?

  13. Hi all,

I've submitted an EOI with 60 points for a 189 visa back in November. It's becoming more apparent that the invite isn't going to happen any time soon with the current number of invites and the high pointers getting through.

I would like to start looking at a 190 visa with the hopes of getting an invite a bit sooner.

If anyone can help with the following I'd be very grateful......

    1. Can anyone advise on how to submit a second EOI.... I can't see the option for it anywhere on skillselect and am worried that I might change my current EOI and then loose my date of effect and ultimately my place in the queue?

    2. Also does anyone know if the state sponsorship works any faster or has had any experience with the 190?

    My profession is:

    Medical Diagnostic Radiographer

    251211

    Thanks in advance

Unfortunately, we don't get to see where we are ranked. Basically, the more points you have, the quicker you get an invite.

Depending on how many invitations are being issued for that particular round-the great news is that some occupations e.g. nurses don't need that many points to be invited. I only had 65 and received an invitation on the 1st round ?

    Hi PsychNurse,

Do you think they make allowances for sharing the invites amongst the different professions needed? or is it just down to having the highest points?
