  1. Looking at booking a flight for a relative with Etihad

The economy flex ticket shows a baggage allowance of 1 piece 23kg.  The person travelling is older and prefers to take 2 smaller cases for ease of lifting and such.

Does anyone have any experience of using Etihad and how strict there policy is on this?  23kg is plenty so this is not about getting extra allowance.

I did try using the etihad help on Facebook but got 2 messages back 1 stating yes the other stating no and when i tried to clarify they haven't got back to me!!! hmmm great customer service there then!

    Sure,

This tax year (excluding large 1 offs) is roughly

Car expense c$500 - Rego, insurance, fuel, repairs (may be artificially high as I had a few repairs and changed car so 2 lots of rego)

Utiliities & bills c.$330 (includes professional fees of c. $1300, say $100 pm)

Groceries/Household Stuff c$800 (probably a little high as I moved house, includes lunches, coffees etc)

    Health Insurance $215

Leisure $1,000 (meals out, drinks, gigs, leisure activities)

    Pnone & Web $150

Travel (public transport & ubers) $80

I could probably trim $500 pm if I really had to and it's been a bit lower since I moved to Perth as I'm not out as much for drinls/dinner/gigs etc.

    Thank you.

With 2 children in tow our meals out, gigs and leisure activities are pretty minimal.  My 2 are at the stage where a BBQ or a picnic at a different park every week is what they enjoy.  Totally forgot about health Ins thanks for reminding me on that one

  3. Sorry to interrupt your thread and I don't mean to sound rude but what do you spend $3-3.5k on per month?

I have been trying to plan for our outgoings and have found it really hard as we are a family (2 adults 2 kids 14 &10) who have always lived within our means but still enjoyed what we feel to be a good standard of living without spending nearly as much per month.  I must say that neither of us smoke or drink and we very rarely eat out due to child food allergy once per month very maximum.  I to have been trying to ensure that we can survive on around a similar salary in Perth.

Our UK house will be rented out and we will be arriving with approx £40k

I would do the rabies vaccine and then wait 3 weeks and blood test done then - as long as the blood test is done within 24 months of the first one that is the key point.

yes it will be.  thank you.

Safest way is to get another rabies vaccine and then another rabies blood sample and i would start doing that soon. What you want is to get another positive rabies blood sample within 2 years of the original one and then the 180 day wait starts when the first one was taken. If you just get the rabies blood sample done and it comes back negative, you have to rush to get another vaccine done and wait 3-4 weeks and then another sample done.

Happy to get another rabbies vaccine done, how long do i need to wait before I can do the bloodtest or can that be done pretty much immediately as he should still be covered?  If i arrange for this month it will be within the 2yrs of the last one

Can you elaborate on the contact to UK passport office as I can't find anything online on their website and I have the same problem?

I called up and asked how we would find out my parents joint passport number from 1971, was advised request had to be put in writing which we did and within 14 days the wrote back with the information we needed.  Give them a call as we did

I had 20m3 from Sydney to Perth in January and it was $3,200.  I packed and unpacked all the boxes and had everything ready to go.  The lads packed and unpacked the container.

Who did you use?  I am being Quoted $5600 plus GST currently.  everything is packed and wrapped in storage as we didn't know if it would be coming back to the UK or staying in Oz.  The quote i was given for it to come back to the UK was cheaper!  I am assuming they have quoted for it going across land not sure if it would be cheaper to put it on a boat

  8. Our dogs current RNAT certificate expires on 04/07/17 and it is looking likely that we will need to postpone his departure until August.  Just wondering what the process is for a new certificate after this date?  Is it a booster jab and then further blood tests.

Any experiences of this would be greatly appreciated

We did Melbourne to Cairns around 6 years ago and it was approx $5,0000.

You could look at backloading. We brought half a container down from Townsville to Locker Valley and it was $900

Do you know who i would contact or where i would look for backloading?
