Hey guys, I need some advice on this:
How do you deal in a situation where your direct manager and the N+2 manager agree to support you for PR under 186 direct entry stream, but the HR department people is saying the business is not in a position to sponsor the staff for permanent residency?
My guess is that this does not directly depends on HR but if the business unit or function in the organisation is willing to support a staff for PR, they simply should do it, or am i wrong?
Thanks.
Maybe the HR department is aware of the sponsorship requirements (training benchmarks etc.) and they know that your company wouldn`t be able to get the sponsor status?
That`s the only legitimate reason I can think about. But still, that`s just a guess.

Assuming there is a fixed percentage of people who add their details to the spreadsheet (60-80%?) I would still say there was a drop in applications number.
I`m from Feb '17 and can`t wait to see this to speed up after Jun - Oct applications are sorted.
Hopefully...

Apologies, now I realized you want to wait with applying for visa after you get nomination first.
Yes, based on the spreadsheet it may sum up to 6+6.
Good luck

I disagree.
Spreadsheet shows many people applied for nomination + visa on the same day and got both approved after approx. 6-7 months. That means it doesn't sum up to 12 (6+6) months. Of course I`m assuming standard waiting time without additional documents requested etc.

Yes, I saw this. Electronics Engineer is there with a note attached:
QuoteThese occupations are specified as a skilled occupation only in relation to an application for a visa listed below. These occupations are not specified as a skilled occupation in relation to any other visa subclass, despite paragraphs 2, 5, 6 and 8.
· subclass 189 Skilled Independent visa
· subclass 485 Temporary Graduate visa
· subclass 489 Skilled Regional (Provisional), if the applicant is not nominated by a State or Territory government agency.
My question is: Is it going to apply to past applications lodged before April and I can`t find straightforward answer. Am I missing something?
Thanks anyway

Hello guys,
I have a question related to 186 and removed occupation:
Nomination and visa applied in February 2017. (Direct Entry)
My occupation (Electronics Engineer) is on MLTSSL list and as far as I understand is no longer eligible to apply for 186. It has a caveat attached that says it`s eligible for 189/485/489 application. I saw few posts on various forums saying that changes to 186 will not affect past applications (lodged prior to 19th of April) but I can`t find any official info about it. My MA says that Legislation and Policy of the 19th April changes haven`t been released yet so we can`t be sure.
I was just wondering if you have a reliable source of this information. Appreciate any help.
Cheers.
