Hi,

If I were to apply for a 489 Family Sponsorship Visa, do I need a skills assessment on the SOL list or is CSOL also accepted?

Also for WA, do you still need a job offer & 3 years experience as with the state sponsored 190/489 visas?

The ACS came back with a copy & paste of info from their site as follows:

Please include the following documentation:

· business registration certificates covering each period of self-employment

· a statement on a letterhead from your accountant or legal representative certifying the name and nature of your business

· Statements from your clients with details of the work performed and dates. These statements should cover the entirety of the experience claimed.

I'm going to go back to them to see if they would offer further clarification.

Ok. Thanks for this. Upon further digging there are a range of different test providers & I found a table with the cutoff criteria (can't find the link anymore). My view is that 20 points will fare better than getting 10.

I've signed up for an ielts test in support of my pending expression of interest. I'm a professional who is used to writing reports & believe I have a good shot at the superior English grading.

I'm assuming that I need to be signed up to the academic IELTS exam for this vs. the general test for this?

You can find most stuff out from a search engine to be honest. You should seek initial assistance from a visa agent if you're struggling at to what to do. You'll figure out the rest from help on forums like this & Google.

Not quite as simple as that

Although Kiwis can move to Australia, if they only move on the basis of NZ citizenship then they are only ever going to be temporary residents in Australia. To get PR they have to qualify like everyone else. Being just a temp resident can raise loads of issues in many areas of life.

 

Brexit has nothing to do with oz, and no way will Australia ever let UK citizens move there just cos they feel like it, oz loves its immigration controls too much for that.

Can see why. Ozzy wages are a testament to controls vs. British wage depression with mass immigration. The ability for brits to have a similar system with Oz as NZ would probably be a good thing for trade (as it is with NZ), without the burden of state support that Britain has encountered with European Integration.

Guess we'll have to see what comes out of the trade talks. A few years off yet.

No, but Australia & New Zealand have the Trans-Tasman Agreement - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trans-Tasman_Travel_Arrangement

This lets citizens of the two countries travel freely, like EU members can around EU countries.

Thanks for this guys. My folks have fired the starting gun & going to see an emigration agent. They mentioned about the changes coming in July. Hopefully with Brexit it will become easier too. Hopefully there will be an argument for the uk to enter into a migration agreement similar to the one New Zealand has...

I've just called HMRC & they're sending out the statements going back to 2008. I've also emailed the ACS for further guidance.

OK, so I'm sorting out my skills assessment (coming to Oz from the UK). I need to provide proof of work. I've been self employed for the past 9 years. The Australian Computer Society who are judging my skills require "business registration certificates covering each period of self-employment". This is fine for my ltd company, however I was trading as a self employed worker previously which only has the self assessment filings as records of prior employment in my early days of being in business.

Does anyone have any guidance on how I can provide further information to validate this?

My brother (only sibling) is a permanent resident. I am looking to obtain a residency visa in the coming years (possibly provisional). The only thing thats really keeping our parents in the UK is me & my young family (grandkids).

If I initially obtained a provisional residency visa, then presumably the balance of family test would wholly rely on my brothers permanent residency / impending citizenship? If so, with only 1/2 of their children permanent residents, would they be able to apply for a contributory parent visa, or would they need to wait for me to become a permanent resident say 4 years down the line?
