  1. Thanks, that's interesting. They appear to still be operating as I got a very quick response from their Australian office (directing me to their London one). Perhaps their remit has changed but they do still refer to discounted flights/extra baggage on their website. I'm usually one for organising everything myself but having just missed out on an Emirates sale I was hoping there might be one last chance to make a saving/get more baggage allowance!

  2. Hello

I'm looking to book our one way flights from Scotland to Melbourne this weekend. I'm looking at Emirates however have read on other forums that IOM (International Organization for Migration) can obtain discounted flights and increased baggage allowances for migrants entering Australia with an invalidated visa.

Does anyone have any experience of going through IOM recently? I emailed them a couple of days ago but no response yet and want to book flights asap incase prices increase (but equally don't want to miss an opportunity to get a cheaper fare/increased baggage allowance if such a thing does indeed exist)!

    Thanks in advance!

  3. Great seeing so many grants this week. I too got mine on Fri 10th Feb at 4.5 months. I submitted my application on 27th Sept and held off doing medical and police checks until the end of January. Submitted police check on 5th Feb and my visa appeared in my inbox 5 days later! I initially was going to wait until asked to do police and medical checks but wanted to keep things moving and so decided go ahead. I had no contact at all from c/o other than the formal visas (temp followed 1 min later by perm). Stick in there!

  4. Heard nothing - checked my immi account today and still just says application 'received' and against my partner's sponsorship application 'submitted'. Does anyone know if these status' get updated when a case officer has been appointed? I've decided to go ahead and get my medical done tomorrow and have ordered my police check - hopefully not a decision I'll regret financially!

  5. Thanks, I can imagine given the volume of applications that calling probably won't get me much further forward. It's just the not knowing and having everything on hold thats hard as I have a 3 month notice period at work.

I'm going to go ahead and get medical and police check in next couple of weeks as that's almost 4 months now so expiry shouldn't be an issue (hopefully).

Hopefully will see Sept applicants getting some news soon!

You will most likely get the standard response. A CO will contact you if they require anything further for your application. If you applied online I'd think you could find your HAP ID to undertake your medical if you wanted and to supply your police check. Unless you've already done both of those in which case nothing more to be done I don't think. It can happen sometimes people don't hear from a CO until the visa is ready to grant or is granted.

Honestly, people don't need to contact them to enquire as to their application. I do in some ways think the online application makes the waiting worse for people than when it was all done via postal applications. People constantly checking their IMMI accounts to see if there is any change, must drive people a bit nuts.

When they moved over to the online applications it seems they also moved away from giving out CO direct emails and phone numbers and now only have a central email contact and help desk where enquiries are fielded and only referred to a CO if urgent or important to the application. General enquiries about where the application is at won't get much beyond its lodged, processing in due course sort of thing.
