  1. Hi members,

I am moving to Brisbane on PR 189 visa with family. I have been assessed for Medical Administrator. I am wondering if anyone can advice me how to find jobs in this skill as soon as possible after I land. Can someone please suggest me specific recruitment agencies or any other pathways to find me a work.

Many thanks in advance for help

  2. Dear members,

I am exploring business ideas for Australia, to be particular in Brisbane. I have the investment up to 50,000 Australian dollars available. Can someone suggest some business ideas for this budget please?

Thanks for everyone's help in advance

  3. Hello everyone, I lodged 189 Visa application on 10th July 2017. My immigration agent told me that Case Officer or his/her team is highly likely to contact me and/or my employer. I need to know if this has happened with everyone here or should I feel as an exception?

Thanks for your help in advance.

  4. Dear members, I am landing as PR 189 to Brisbane in couple of weeks. I applied to immigration as Medical Administrator and I have 8 years of vast experience in this field, including office support and management experience. I understand that I will not get my field job straight away after landing. I need to find a job at least to support my family expenses, of having a baby daughter of 6 years and a spouse. We need to make both ends meet while meeting rents and food expenses. My question is, how can I and my wife find jobs after landing?

    Please guide, thanks

  5. Dear members,

I am moving to Melbourne as PR 189 visa holder in a few weeks time. I was told that I can claim 400 dollars fortnightly on each child. In addition to this, may I know which other cash payment can I claim as newly arrived PR?

    Please advice, thank you

  6. Dear members,

I am moving on to Australia on PR 189 in couple of weeks. I have planned to stay in Melbourne. I need to rent a small house or flat - whatever is cheap - for my small family, as I have a spouse (wife) and a 6 years old daughter. My priority is that the house should be near to the primary school. What else should I consider in renting a house. Please also share good suburbs.

You need citizenship for federal jobs but state level jobs generally only require PR.

Is police a state level job? Sorry but I am naive in this. Victoria police have mentioned that PR can apply, so I expect I will be eligible

  8. Dear members,

I am moving to Australia on PR 189 visa with a background in administration. Some Victorian government departments have mentioned that PR can apply to government jobs, I am wondering if it is indeed possible for a PR to get a government job, such as in Police or Transport Victoria. Please share your views. Thank you

  9. Hi members,

I have received my positive assessment for Australia. I understand that initially I need to do odd / blue collar jobs until I find my field related work (I am a skilled medical administrator). I need to know what are highest paying odd jobs available in Melbourne?

Thanks for your help in advance

  10. If you are earning that kind of money in Pakistan then financially you are likely to be worse off. Getting established in Australia takes time, for the first two years I earned half of what I earned in the UK and it took 4 years to reach an equivalent salary. We didn't move to Australia for money or career progression though, middle aged and over all that!

It seems though that career is important to you - so even putting earnings aside where do you think your career would progress more? Would a few years Australian experience help or hinder your career in Pakistan? I found despite lower earnings my UK experience gave me the edge over locals and I was invited to speak at conferences and SIG's and that catapulated my career which has been of benefit now I am back in the UK.

Bear in mind the majority of people on this forum are British so don't really understand your current environment in Pakistan or the hurdles you would face getting established.

Thanks for sharing your opinion. I will try to answer what you have asked me. Putting earnings aside, I think my career will progress even more in Pakistan. I am a Medical Doctor and I specialize in Heart Disease, so I am a cardiologist. The more I practice in my town, the more I will get popular with time, so my practice career will hence enhance with time. If I stay in Australia even for a few years, it will cause a great damage to my practice because I will lose my patients and some other Cardiologist will have them as patients. So my OPD will decrease definitely. I haven't, by the way, inquired anything that Brits here would not be able to answer, most of them have been very kind as you can see they have shared their opinions nicely. You don't require rocket science qualification to understand what life is about in Pakistan. The country is already everywhere - from news to blogs! I hope I have answered your queries. Thank you again for your time and help.
