  1. Hi - I'm not in Sydney as per your specific request. But for comparison purposes I have been invited to my *Brisbane* ceremony on Australia Day 2019. My approval letter for this arrived yesterday - Christmas Eve. If you are viewing this post on a PC then my full timeline will appear in the footer to this post. Thx.

  2. Had citizenship test in Brisbane today. Short interview and ID checking and computer testing. Approval granted whilst I sat there post-test and immi account updated itself immediately from RECEIVED to APPROVED. I was advised that the official letter will be posted to my home address within 4 weeks. The process then goes to Brisbane City Council for actual ceremony date. I was advised this will take 3-6 months. That would make my end-to-end citizenship application process ca. 18 months. Trust this assists others. Thx.

  3. Got my invitation for a test interview and citizenship test today. It is 51 weeks since I submitted my citizenship application. Am in Brisbane and the test will be just under two weeks from today. To pass the time over the last year I taught myself to write lefthanded .... timeline and details below if this assists anyone else. Thx.

    Hi Guys ,

Anyone waiting for a test invites fro November 2017 ? I applied in last week of November and haven't heard anything since .?

Hi - I applied 19NOV17 and have heard nothing further since the automated 'received' status that same day. So 8 months so far. Hope to hear something about a test date within next 4 months. Thx.

  5. Thanks, Very Stormy. I understand that there is no automatic right of passage to PR from a 457 visa. But, yes, I could have phrased my question better.

What I meant was ......  if someone had been granted a 457 In July 2017 is there a possibility that it was on the basis that (1) it was valid for two years only and (2) it would not allow them to start the PR process at the end of those two years.

I think you have answered the question by stating that the old rules would have applied in July 2017. Meaning a 4 year 457 would have been granted with the possibility to apply for PR after the first two of those years had been reached - eg: by July 2019 should the law not change in the intervening period.

    Thx.

  6. I have a specific 457 visa question I'm hoping someone can answer.

If your 457 was granted in 2017 in JUN/JUL after the government announced its changes ....... would it be a 4 year one leading to PR? Or would it be a 2 year one that doesn't lead to PR?

My understanding is that it could be either. But that the 2 year one was quicker and easier to to get ...... even though you definitely had to leave once it expired.

Can anyone confirm based on personal experience. Not for me as I already have PR and am awaiting citizenship processing. But this questions is to settle a debate I am having with a colleague.

    Many thx.

    Hi coolmotu,

I lodged online application in the 2nd week of last November and I am currently living in Chatswood let's keep updated each other.

I applied 19-NOV-17 around the same time as you two. So interested to hear how you both go. Out of curiosity I check my IMMI status once a month to make sure they haven't requested more nfo. I'm not really expecting any developments until June or July this year at the earliest. If all goes well I may make a citizenship ceremony for 26-JAN-19. I consider anything earlier than that a bonus.

  8. All - can I suggest a reality check here? It is what it is ......... the citizenship timelines are longer than we'd want. We won't change anything in this forum by berating the system. All we'll do is wind each other up and make anyone reading these posts even more anxious. Yes, it's inconvenient. But we're in a safe country that has granted us PR which is basically permanent leave to remain here. Try being on a 457 and losing your job. That will make you anxious as you have to depart AU unless you can find new sponsorship within a specific timeframe. I suggest we focus on other things and stop checking our immi account status every (other) day. Do something else until your dates come through. If they are well overdue take some rational action. These are first world problems!

  9. Hi All - good news today with my PR finally granted today. My timelines:

08MAR16 - nomination and visa submitted

    14OCT16 - nomination approved

    14OCT16 - 1 additional document requested

    15NOV16 - 186 visa approved

457 to 186 PR via MA

    LR, 1 person

    revenue/pricing manager

    VIC PESE

    457 expired before 186 granted

so moved to bridging visa A for 3 months

original waiting time advised was 5-8 months (153-245 days)

so 186 granted just outside of this guidance timeframe (it took 252 days)

    spreadsheet updated

Thanks for info provided so generously and selflessly by all contributors. I only made a few forum comments but benefitted hugely from watching exchanges. Fingers crossed for all those still awaiting news, especially those who have been waiting longer term.

    Brgds.

  11. HI

i HAVE HEARD A NEWS THAT AFTER 17TH OF NOV IMMI WILL PROCESSS THE APPLICATION FAST AS ON THAT DAY SOME CHANGES ARE GOING TO IMPLEMENT REGARDS TO IMMIGRATION

    THANKS

thanks mahenderntpc. we need to be careful with this info and qualify exactly what it means. eg: how does it affect those in our situation already deep in the process of applying for PERMANENT residency ..... and how does it impact others applying for TEMPORARY, short-stay visas.

i could only find an article online relating to changes to short-term visa changes. see the link below. but let us know what your source is if available in the public domain.

one possible nett result is this - if the process for TEMPORARY visas is in fact going to be simpler then the department would theorteically have more resource to dedicate to the processing of PERMANENT residency applications.

    many thx.

  12. Hi All

Firstly what a great forum, so much great support and helpful information.

This is my first post here so hoping you guys may be able to give some assistance.

    My Timeline and profile:

ENS 186 for Myself and Defacto partner - Both LR countries - Customer Service Manager

Nomination Submitted by my HR team at work: 01/04/2016

Visa Application Submitted by immigration agent: 01/09/2016

Additional Docs Requested for Nomination: 02/11/2016

From the forums experience do you think that now that the nomination is being looked at that my side of the application will be reviewed over the coming weeks?

Alternatively, do you think there will still be a long wait for the application to be reviewed by a Case Officer?

Unsure if the same case officer will likely review both sides of the application at a similar time. At least it seems there is a human somewhere looking at my application!

Any advise regards whether I or my agent should attempt to contact immigration at this stage?

Best of luck to all! May the PR come your way soon.

Hi Bondi Hopeful - thanks for your data. I had a look at the spreadsheet to see how long it is generally taking for a 186 visa to be granted once additional info has been requested. The timelines vary greatly. But of the 15 or so examples I looked at I could see waiting times of between 1 day and 46 days before the visa was granted. The average time was 18 days.

Personally, they requested extra documents from my MA 3 weeks ago today. But there has been nothing since then. I believe we have 28 days to respond to any request for additional documents. So potentially they just make a diary date to look at your file again 28 days later to see if you've complied ..... even if you submitted the requested info within minutes of their request! Brgds.

  13. Hi guys

One of my friends -who applied on 25th March- got Nomination approval on 29th October. He is still waiting for Pr. My question is if someone got Nomination is that mean he/she will get Pr 100%?

    Thanks

Hi SYD38 - no, I definitely don't think a nomination approval means an automatic visa approval. One is for the employer, the other for the specific applicant/s. Otherwise you would only need a single overall approval. I submiited my nomination and my visa application on 08MAR16. The nomination got approved on 14OCT16 .... but still no guaranteed 186 visa grant almost 3 weeks later. I'm sure others have waited for longer than me - and maybe not even got the visa approved in the end, depsite an initial nomonation approval. Thx.

  14. This is my longest post so far and for well deserved reasons :)

Hurrayyy !!! I got my PR today :)

This happened in a little strange way but I would like to share if it gives help to any of you.

I posted yesterday about my conversation with IMMI guys. They said it is Feb applications going on right now. After reading replies on the forum it was clear that I am not alone in concluding there is something amiss. Hence I called IMMI again in afternoon and some other lady picked up. She took interest in taking my application number, checked into system and suggested application has not been allocated yet to CO. I made a mental note to call them back in 2 to 3 weeks time.

Today morning I had a very strong intuition that it would be my day !! And I rebuked myself considering 2 calls from yesterday with IMMI.

And yes, I got an email from my MA - PR granted to me and to dear wifey. No docs requested (incl form 80). Point to note that visa document has date of grant of yesterday.

    Timelines: Nom & Visa 29th March 2016

    Granted: yesterday, 25th October 2016

Applied NSW PESE processed by VIC PESE.

    Occupation: IT Biz development

    HR, 2 Ppl

    My conclusions:

    1. Don't call IMMI -> It adds to mental pressure and they do not furnish correct details.

    2. Confirm with your MA about completeness of your docs. I enquired my MA on form 80 after seeing a few posts here. They replied my application is complete without form 80. I was ok after that. And boy they were right! So MA knows their stuff, trust in them else again you would be under undue pressure.

    3. Looks like application processing has definitely picked up and they are using different centers to share load. So be patient (and I know it is easier said than done, but do we have a choice!)

It feels awesome to post this here :) Folks, thank you all for your support in this journey in last 2 months. I wish you the BEST and you shall have PR soon.

    Cheers!!

Very well done, Wanderergs ... really glad to hear the positive news for you and your wife. You must be over the moon. Thanks for sharing your details and for your tips. Your sentence has come to an end! Brgds.

  15. Hi Syed Jameel - are they asking you for this as the nominating employer ....... or as the visa applicant? To me it looks like data that the nominating employer needs to supply the DIBP. My employer completed something very similar for me. Eg: position description, organisational chart, salary info, annual company turnover. Thx.

Hi all can anybody help me out here will fwd you a photo snap shot of Immi requested for further documents.

  16. Don't be misled by that update, Wanderergs. The current spreadsheet shows that at least 3 applications from June 2016 have been processed with PR visae granted! It will depend upon the CO and office in question. It may be that the bulk of processing is still in FEB16/MAR16 .... but they have already reached beyond that. Cheers.

I just called IMMI.. A lady picked and asked for date of my application. Upon my reply of March 2016 she told me that they have not yet reached applications lodged in March 2016 yet. They are working on applications earlier than March !!

I don't know if it is helpful but thought of sharing with you all.

  17. Is there anyone whos AFP was valid at the time of application lodgment but it was expired when the visa decision was made? Bcoz my application is now more than a year old so my AFP is now expired now.

Yes, I had this too. I was too well-prepared and had completed 3 police checks and my BUPA medical well before I submitted my visa application. Then all 3 police checks expired as did my medical. I immediately renewed 2 of the polic checks and my BUPA medical. My MA advised that I could keave out the 3rd police check as I had not returned to that country since.

This was all my fault, preparing too early. But follow Rajmalkumar's advice and renew ASAP. You van use the same HAP ID to make a new BUPA appointment. It will cost you again and they may need to call the department to free uo your HAP ID for the 2nd medical. Hope this helps.

  18. Hi Rene ... this shouldn't affect anything. I did exactly the same as you after the contributor hb31 told me how to do this. My MA explained that she has the master corporate account to the immigration department. Importing the application into my personal immi account is a second, lighter copy only. My MA has seen movement on my application in the time since I imported it so I know I haven't 'broken' anything! Thx.

  19. mite be a silly q

i applied via a MA, how do i access my immi account? Or can my MA only access this as they applied on my behalf??

Not a silly question, I have a similar one.

I have an immi account that I set up to complete a 'My Health Declaration'. This enabled me to my eMedical referral letter with my unique HAP ID number. I used this HAP ID number to set up my BUPA health examination.

However, my case is being handled by a migration agent so I assume they have a separate immi account view for me handling the actual PR submission. My MA has confirmed that everything has been submitted and she has been excellent in managing my case so far.

When I log into the one I set up there is no info on my nomination or visa having been submitted, received or anything. It just states "This My Health Declaration form has been successfully submitted to the department".

I'll follow this up with my MA ... my responsibility to clarify this point. Will share findings in this forum. I'd be interested in other people's experience on this point if others are in the same boat.

  20. Hey everyone

I applied on 8th march 2016 ... its more than 6 month still no reply ... can u plz tell me how long more ???

Hi Vic123 ...... same as you. My 186 nomination and visa from 457 submitted 08MAR16, LR country, me only, complete documents with all police and health checks. MA agent advised me 4 weeks ago to wait at least 2 more months for decision. Current process month late DEC15/early JAN16. So biding my time for now. 6 months and 19 days but not fussed. Brgds.
