We didn’t really find out until we got our Pr visas granted in April (had our Medicals done in January) but we had a new born daughter in December, who we added to the visas & she had to have her medical at the end of February so it may have delayed our grant.. if it helps mine was processed straight away while my partner’s took longer on the system to process (he’s had a past slipped disc & psorrihosis) & it was mine we were worried about. Hopefully you’ll hear sooner but try not to worry, I just had in my head that everything happens for a reason & there’s nothing you can do now. I’m sure it will be fine, let us know how you get on. I'm sure they'll consider that.. A lot of people have something wrong with them, they can't not let everyone in with a medical condition. Try not to worry, although I know it's easier said than done. The Dr wasn't phased by my Crohns diagnosis... Maybe take a reference from your boss stating how little sickness you've had, I did this but can't remember if it was needed. Good luck!!

My situation is slightly different as I haven’t had medication for years. I was diagnosed with crohns 15 years ago, had operations & took mesalazine for about 7 years following this. I did get a letter from my surgeon, who’d done my operations over 15years ago & my GP, on the advice of a forum. Passed medical.. Had no problems & no delays. Good luck! 

We got granted our PR. (My partner was the main applicant) I've been in remission for years & free from any medication for the last 10 years. I have had surgery due to crohns in 2000 where I had a re section. Medicals do involve a blood test & chest X Ray. I felt the same as you.. paying out all that money just to fail a medical at the end. It is stressful. We decided not to use a MARA for this reason (saving 3k) that way we hadn't paid as much out if we didn't get a grant. Good luck!!

want to get organised but on the diac website it always says the site is temporary unavailable. not sure what to do about it.

 

can anyone tell me what i need to do for the medicals. do i need to request medical information from my doctors, passports etc.

Hi, I know it's been a long time since you wrote this but i presume you got through your Medicals okay? I too have Crohn's and was wondering if this would be a problem (before we commit 8k in visa fees etc...) I have been off any treatment since 2005 & have been well since 2000.

Thank you for responding. That's good news.. Hopefully my medical will be fine, although slightly different to yours. I haven't been unwell with Crohn's in 16yrs so hopefully they will take this into consideration.

I've booked an appt with an IBD specialist so should be able to get a letter regarding this. Thank you both for your advice. The worrying part is potentially losing £8k.. It's a shame the Medicals can't be done at the same time as the skills assessment, that way the costs incurred would be a lot less. Sammo from what I believe it's a lot easier to get a temp visa with a medical condition so I'm sure you'll have no problems.. Good luck all the same!

Sukiukiscottie, can I ask which visa you got granted please? I am trying to determine if there is more chance of getting a temp visa granted. Unfortunately this wouldn't be an option for us as we don't want to unsettle the children in terms of their education by having to move back to the UK after several years.

I would like to enquire if anybody has passed their medical, having a diagnosis of Crohns disease?

I was diagnosed in 1999 but have been in remission since 2000 and stopped taking medication (Mesalazine) in 2005. I am awaiting a 2nd opinion to check my diagnosis is correct in view of the fact I have been so well and also only ever had one Biopsy to diagnose this condition, which I believe should only be diagnosed after several biopsies and investigations.

I would be grateful if anybody could advise us on how likely it is I will pass the medical, I have been informed that a refusal is likely due to Crohns disease being unpredictable and a chronic condition so potentially may cost Australia money (I have never had a day off work with Crohns since 1999 so it is frustrating to hear I may not be granted a PR Visa due to this).
