It's a difficult one, because I assume what they're looking for is that you're genuine about just wanting to study in Australia, and that you'll go home when the course is done.  Whereas in reality, I assume you have no intention of going home at the end, you're planning to stay on by hook or by crook (probably go for a graduate visa - I assume you've checked that the course is eligible for that).

If you are using a migration agent, then he should be helping you with suggestions for evidence.  How old are you?  Could you use ties to parents, extended family etc?

    Thanks for the reply.

I will be 30 at the time of applying. I'm hoping to build a strong GTE case around Parents and family so will see how it goes. Hoping I'm worrying for nothing.

Can't help with the student stuff, but I can tell you that you need to include your partner on your application as a Dependent on a Student Visa.  You cannot sponsor your partner for a Partner Visa.

Yeah my wording was incorrect, My partner is down as a dependant on my application.

  3. Hello.

Hoping I could get a bit of advice or some other peoples opinions on a situation I'm in.

My partner and I did a working holiday visa in 2018 for 2 years and sadly had to come home as our time was up. We said when we left we wanted to return at some point and now we're in the process of applying for a student visa so I can study Carpentry Cert 3 at Gold Coast TAFE and my partner would come on a partner visa with me. We're from the UK. We're doing all of this through a registered migration agent.

The part we're struggling with at the moment is showing ties to our home country. Due to the line of work I do I can't get a job offer from my boss as I only work for the same employer for 6 months before moving on to the next. (Sub-Contracting). Neither of us own any property and the only form of assets we have is money in our banks. Of course we have somewhere to stay when we come back however nothing is owned by us.

The below is bullet points they have suggested we provide evidence of.

Ties to your home country (strongly suggested, but not required)

    evidence of property/asset ownership

evidence that you have a job offer on return/conversations with your former boss about coming back to work

    employment reference letters

memberships/clubs etc in your home country.

Reference letters I can get but they are the bog standard basic worked from this date to this date and this was his job title.

Does anyone have any suggestions on things I could include to show ties to my home country, or does anyone have any experience applying for a student visa without the above information and having the visa approved?

Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated.
