Dear administrators and all,
I am new to this forum, and I have a few questions with regard to the settlement in SA. I am recently granted a 187 visa, and my family and I are planning to move to Adelaide in 2 months. I would like to get some information about primary schools. Our plan is to rent a house for the first couple of months during our stay.
So how can I apply for public primary school for my 8-year-old daughter?
Do I choose school based on the location that I stay?
Do I need to provide the lease or some kind of documentation to apply for a primary school ?I just want to understand how the process for applying my kids for school work out in Australia.
I appreciate your advice.
Thank you
Joe

Guys, I am glad to share my great news with you all.
I am currently overseas but my boss called me to inform me that my PR has just been granted.
My occupation was removed last month so I was very nervous.
Thank you all in this Forum for sharing information and providing mental support.
I am flying back to Australia tonight.
Wish you all get your PR soon!
Cheers
Elliot
Fantastic, I am very happy for you :).

Yes, I saw this. Electronics Engineer is there with a note attached:
My question is: Is it going to apply to past applications lodged before April and I can`t find straightforward answer. Am I missing something?
Thanks anyway
Click on "removed occupations" from the link and you will see the below OFFICIAL note:
"If your occupation has been removed from the list, you will be impacted if:
- you apply for one of the following visa programmes on or after 19 April 2017: That is, any applications already lodged before 19 April 2017 for the above visa subclasses (other than a 457 visa) will not be impacted (even if the occupation was removed on 19 April 2017)."
My occupation is on the removed list, I am not sure how "offical" the information is though. Is there anyone on the forum whose occupation is on the removed gets his/her PR granted recently ?

Congrates to all the PR approvals over the weekend ! This definitely gives some hopes to those who are still waiting.

Any DE approval since the 4/19 changes ?

Thanks for sharing and yes I have just found it. Thanks God that I am 186DE...
My occupation is on the "removed" list, and this change will not affect any 186 DE application that was lodged before April 19.
BUT, my concern is since my occupation will no longer be supportive for future 186 DE application, would that affect the way that CO makes a decision ?

I do not think it is weird. There are Easter and then ANZAC holidays, so it will slow the process down.
The immigration department goal is now to process 75% in 10 months and 90% in 12 months.
They are publicly justifying that they are still processing files from April 2016. It should alleviate the stress that many people are experiencing.
In a word: don't stress, nothing is wrong with your file, we just have a backlog and are processing files that are one year old.
That being said, it is clear that some applications will be processed faster than that. They may process 60% of application in 8 months, 45% in 6 months etc.
Makes complete sense to me...
I respect the fact that they are slowing down the process due to public holidays or the lack of resources. But I don't like the way how they process applications. They should have done it based on first come first serve principle

The processing time for DE 186 has been updated from 75% 9 months, 90% 11 months, to 75% 10 months, 90% 12 months...sad !

Sue, does your IMMI account reflect the stauts to say "Assessment in progress" ? BTW, did they by any chance tell you whether Ocotober DE files are allocated ?

Hi Wendy,
Whats your timeline?
Sent from my LG-K500 using Tapatalk
Hi Sue,
My timeline is on the spreadsheet:
Nomination/Visa: 24/10.2017
HR country, 3 persons. DE application.
Other than the nomination approval, I actually have other factors that I am worried about. I had a surgury last year to remove a precancerous lesion in lung, and I have completed my health check but until a CO is allocated, they cannot tell me whether I meet the health criteria..... so, I am pretty stressed out !
Hope everything goes well , and I wish that everyone on the forum gets his/her PR soon !!!

I found this bit unusual i am wait for sep and they have finalised october huh? Lol whats going on?

I just noticed that too, a OCT DE file has been finalized. Actually, I called IMMI last week and they said that they just started opening DE files.
Hope it is my turn soon....

BTW, my lawyer just reassigned from her previous company and the email address she used to apply my nomination is now redirected to another person. Will that cause a problem. ? My lawyer said that she would still follow up on my case, but if her previous email is no longer in use, how could she response to IMMI if contacted ???

I believe that they started to look into October transition files, DEs are usually 2-3 months behind. Fingers crossed.

Is it really DE. I hope it might be Transition application.
Can you please add a comment to his timeline in the spreadsheet.
@Maurizio Dal Col is not following this forum I guess.
Same question here, is it really a October DE ?
-
Yes Praveen she said it has been allocated to a team
It looks like AUG and SEP DE files started being picked up ?
-
Thanks @sunshine11111, how long had they been expired before you got your grant?
Thanks @jess6 and @PierreC - and yes, I reckon the overseas police checks and IELTS would definitely take more than 28 days. Pray it doesn't come to that. This wait is unbearable.
@wendyjoe1026 will definitely update - there's a lot of us from JAN-APRL and from 2015 still waiting. Most have just stopped actively posting here (it becomes painful after a while), but many of us are still waiting!
It is defintely a paintful process, and I myself can feel this already, though my waiting time is only 5+ months which is not worth mentiong in comparision to those JAN-APRIL folks.
-
Please Guys note that @Jose had his nomination granted today. Also, they have required form 80 for visa.
It is a September application.
CONGRATS to Jose ! It seems that a lot of April & May DE applications are still pending, or are they just not updating the status on spreadsheet ?
-
Congrats to KathLe ! According to the spreadsheet, it does seem that the transition stream is allocated in prior to DE, possibly because IMMI has a record of 457 application which makes it easy for them process ???
-
Hi Friends,
Can anyone tell me please how to know high risk and low risk country name.
Thank you.
G
LR countries are those countries from which you can apply an ETA. ETA eligable countries (LR) are listed here : https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/601- (with a dash in the end).

I've no idea. I'm transition from 457 to 187 and still waiting.
Think its just the luck of the draw on what is looked at. Think Occupation may have a great deal to what applications are looked. for example registered nurses seem to be approved within 1 or 2 months whereas cooks seem to be much longer with some waiting almost 12 months.
I'm in construction and still waiting on outcome. CO requested additional info on 09/02/2017 and since then we haven't heard anything else.
I hope that you will have some great news soon. I lodged nomination on Oct 24 via Direct Entry (HR country), ICT occupation, not sure how long I will be waiting for...
