  1. To be blunt, I cant see many options.

First, you no longer qualify for a skills visa due to age.

To qualify for a sponsored visa, you would still need an occupation on one of the two skills lists and from what you have posted, I cant see one. Though speaking to a good agent should clear that up. But, even if you did, it would be a temporary visa. In order to become permanent you would need to be a high earner - one of the requirements for people over 50 to gain sponsored permanent residence is you have to earn over about $130k a year.

Business visas are complex and you need to prove you have been running a successful business

Thank you for the info. It all seems to point to me not being able to go to live there sadly. :(

  2. Thanks for replies peeps. All interesting and perhaps worth exploring. Not so sure about marrying just to live in Oz lol

id id like to know what migration companies are around or did you mean the official offices in uk for Australia ?

Its very interesting thanks all for the help :fish2::fish2:

  3. Hi,

The permanent residency visas for skilled workers all have an age restriction of 50. I think there is a retirement visa for 55+, but you can't take any dependent children on it (if you have any), reading the threads it seems almost impossible to get a job from here unless you have skills that are very highly in demand. Do you have any family over there who could sponsor you?

    Hi

thanks for for the info that's helpful not sure about retiring so early tho. I'd need to work as I don't have a huge pension coming my way. I don't have family only a few friends in Mandurah another in Kinross and a few in Sidney. I guess that's not so great.

No my chicks have flown the nest and have lives of their own now.

What at would happen if I had a sponsor with a job ? At my age could that happen ? If I did and then say stayed for 10 years would I have to come back to UK ?

    a few hypothetical questions ?

would this change things if I were getting married to someone in Oz ? How does that work ?

Supposing i I had my own business that could be run on line ? How would that change things ?

Thanks for the help forum it's very interesting I so wish I'd visited them years ago when the age wAsnt in question. Feeling very old now :arghh: lol

  4. Hi orchid welcome to the forum.

The fist job would be to see if qualify for a visa, this will be dependent on your trade / profession and age. Sponsored visa's are ok but offer no real stability once here, so getting a skilled visa is a better option if its possible. What do you do ? and how long have you been doing that job?

Thanks for coming back to me ?

I am nearly 54 years old. I've worked in a banking in early career, admin sales and salaries, then switched to working with special needs children (NVQ ) switched again to sales coordinator and worked in Fire police and ambulance for 12 years but also had own customer base. I used to work in UK and Europe sometimes for the company attending PPE SHOWS etc. Then sadly when made redundant (company sold out to opposition) switched back to sales coordinator /admin roles. At the moment I work for a drainage company in Manchester which is London based (I've been up here 3 years but originally from London). The work is planning the jobs both pre planned and reactive works and coordinating 12 engineers, hotels for them emails and liaising with FM's we are dealing with month by month. It's much more but that's the basis It's a bit like being PA for them all hahaha !

So so much more detail but that's a rough outline.

  5. Hi all, I have not long returned from Mandurah near Perth. Visited friends that I've known for 40 years since early school days. I loved it ...... A fantastic place to live and I'd love to see about moving out their. I really don't know where to start ??? Lots of people I met Out in Oz said do it it's the best ever life they have had. I'm told it's better to get the job on a sponsorship ..... What type of agencies deal with these ? I'd be able to stay with my friends for months so that's not a problem. The reading I've done on here is confusing with so many different visa options or requirements.

I guess id id like to know the basics and just keep reading the forum to gain more knowledge.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
