  1. Hi does anyone know if it is possible to contact the Australian immigration to get an extension on a bvb visa.Ive been in the UK for 5 months trying to sort out my 84 year old father who has dementia and mine runs out on 2nd November. My husband was here with me for 3 months and flew back to Melbourne on 9th September and i was meant to go shortly after, however 3 weeks ago my dad fell and broke his hip, they have since discovered a tumour in his hip and following a biopsy it may now take another 3 weeks to get the result. He is unable to go home and i am now trying to empty his house on my own and sell it as well as desperately trying to find out what will happen to him after surgery.I have 3 weeks left on my bridging visa and time is running out,is my only option to fly back to Melbourne and apply for another bridging visa to fly straight back or would they extend on compassionate grounds?.Im dads only family and there is literaly no one else to help,i am on the verge of a nervous breakdown over this as is my husband.

  2. Me and my Australian husband are currently in the UK sorting out my 84 year old father who has dementia and is frail,we put in for my partner visa online in April this year and i applied and was granted a 6 month bridging visa b to return home to deal with my dad.I have to be back in Australia by November 2nd but i am really anxious as the onshore is now 12-18 months, does anyone know if its possible to obtain another bridging visa b incase my dad gets worse or dies in the meantime?,i also have my horse back in the UK which i intend to bring to Australia but darent until our visa is processed.I feel like im in limbo!!

  3. I think as long as you produce your marriage cert it should all be straight forward, ive just got my medicare card, drivers license in maiden name but they said just bring along our marriage cert and they will send out new cards in my married name, also bank just wants proof. It seems silly getting married and then keeping your maiden name,if i wasnt going away next week i would change the passport now but i just dont want the worry if anything wrong,i"ll do it all in one hit when i get back.

  4. Hi,I applied for my partner visa in April a month after I got married and everything is in my maiden name, however I really want to start using my married name.We are travelling to the UK for 3 months next week to sort my things out at home and i would like to get a new passport in my husbands name but im worried it will complicate everything, has anyone got any advise?,would it be better to apply for one from here when we get back?,thanks!

  5. Hi could anyone give some advise about obtaining a BVB,I have been granted a BVA while my partner visa is processing and that kicks in on the 10th May,i really need to return to the UK soon as i need to help my elderly father sell his house along with organising renting mine out,i got married last month and my husband is joining me so he can meet my family and we can have our honeymoon in Italy too.I understand it is usual to be granted 3 months but can you ask for 6 months as i think it might take a bit longer to sort everything out, also can you apply in person in Melbourne and how long does it take to be granted,i havent booked a flight home ye as im not sure what to do first!!,many thanks!

  9. Hi,im currently in Australia on an eta visa my Australia partner and i are getting married next month and are applying for a partner visa,we have been an item for nearly a year and i spent 3 months with him in october before returning home then coming back here 2 weeks ago,we knew each other 20 years ago. When i got the forms through yesterday my heart sank when i saw they asked about any overstays,23 years ago in 1993 i stupidly overstayed a whv by 18 months, its so long ago i cant remember exactly the dates but i went to immigration was granted a bridging visa for around 2 months and went home,i was excluded for year and was allowed straight back after,i returned to see friends then went home and never returned until last october.at the time i was in a relationship and didnt want t leave my boyfriend,a stupid thing to do but i was young and once i had overstayed i buried my head in the sand and hoped it would go away.I never dreamt 20 years down the line i would fall in love with an Aussie and that the overstay would have serious reprocussions. Can anyone give me some advise as to whether this will mean i fail the character test when we apply for our visa im worried sick, thanks
