Hello all,

My UK born husband is awaiting permanent residency in Australia and we are trying to get advice on the UK state pension and how he goes about paying into the UK pension from Australia. There is also an issue of possible non payment of pension from the UK.

Can someone please advise how he pays into the state pension?

The rates of payment that he is required to pay?

Can he pay back the pension rate that he has not paid since leaving the UK?

quick, potentially dumb, question.

When we submitted our application, we also submitted one for my partner as the 'sponsor' essentially. I am wondering if that was correct as its been a while since reading the booklet, just freaking out that was incorrect. I have uploaded the majority of our evidence under my specific application and really just uploaded basic identification evidence under my partners. Was this correct?

Your sponsor, as an Australian permanent resident/citizen, does not need to submit a medical for a PMV or 820/801. DIBP will not take any notice of a medical report for your sponsor so don't freak out.

It's pretty good, except for the fact that the people here are deeply suspicious of anyone without a broad Australian accent!!!! I'm originally from Sydney which puts me in that category and my husband, well, he could be from outer space. There isn't much work around but we will get there eventually. Anyway other than that it's actually a really nice place, great beaches, the vineyards are the best and there are some great little shopping strips around.

But obviously no Welsh people!

Hi, my husband is Welsh and has been in Australia for nearly 2 years. He is waiting on his permanent residency.
