  1. Hi All,

Apologies if this has been queried before, but I would like to know if I should do an English test to show I have a level of English above the minimum level of 'competent'. I am British/English so competent is assumed and sufficient for my visa. However, I would like to boost my chances so I think this might be the best thing to do. I am applying for a skilled visa 189 as Chartered Accountant/Auditor, so there may be some competition in this category of visa.

I would also be interested to know which is the quickest and easiest method to do a test and if online is possible.

    Many thanks

    Daniel

Doing a PTE test is a good way of boosting your points, consists of speaking, writing, listening and reading tests. I was in the same position. A bit of revising and it's easy enough to pass. If you can score above an average of 80 you'll get superior English which equates to 20 points for your EOI. Google test centre locations, I ended up doing mine at the same place I did my driving theory test.

  2. Hi All,

I've been invited to lodge my visa and I've almost completed all 17 pages of it but I've got a couple of questions before I submit.

Do I need to list my partners education history and employment history even though I'm not claiming points for her skills?

For my education history; it's all been imported from my EOI. Obviously not all of it is relevant to my nominated occupation so should I remove these? If not, I have noticed that there are two options for other:

Other and Other - Non AQF Accreditation, which one is the correct choice? Should I enter the type of qualification in the course name e.g. HND - Electrical/Electronic Engineering?

    Thanks

Bump, I feel like this is a really easy question for someone. Can anyone help?

    Thanks

  3. Hey everyone,

Sorry for what I think will be a stupid question. My wife and I received out invitation to apply for our 189 visa on Monday. We set up our immi account and went through the 17 steps. At no point did I see a comment or way of uploading evidence.

Have I missed something? I looked for somewhere to upload documents, but did find anything

You help would be much appreciated

I'm at the same stage (expect I'm waiting for a query to be answered in another thread). I'm sure that you upload evidence once the visa has been submitted, so you can go ahead and start uploading your supporting documents prior to a CO being assigned.

  5. Hi All,

I've finally got a positive TRA assessment for Electronic Instrument Trades Worker (General)-342314.

They have confirmed that my NVQ Level 3 is comparable to at least an AQF certificate III.

Therefore in the EOI, do I list this qualification as AQF certificate III and list all other qualifications as 'Other - Non AQF accreditation'?

    Thanks in advance!

  6. Hi Karl

I literally listed everything and what tools were used for what! Mine was 6 pages long which divulged into lots of details, projects I had worked on, what my role was, how I got into the trade, when I became qualified, what my next goals are (qualifications etc).

Your employer reference will be less detailed than your personal statement. So more about what they have seen you do - your role, when you commenced employment with them etc.

It's very vague, but only give the information they are asking for :)

    Hi PomCop,

Thanks for your advice. What I've done so far is for the employment statement I've listed my job description but gone into a bit more detail, made a list of tools and equipment that I've used and how it is used (in a table format)

I'm now going to do my personal statement where I'll pick a few projects and go in depth on particular tasks. I hope this will suffice!

    Thanks

    Karl

  7. Hi Karl

The detailed description and nature of and content of your work undertaken are for your employer to describe what you do day to day. Your role, what they observe you do etc. Your description is far more detailed (I know it seems backwards) but you need to include every little detail possible. You have to remember that these Case Officers may have never worked in your trade before, so describe every tool, how you would use it etc.

    Hi PomCop,

Just to clarify, so the section for the employer to describe will basically be my job description but with alot more detail?

For my description, is it best that I write multiple examples of tasks that I do in order to cover all the criteria? There's a real lack of guidelines with this form and I don't want to have it rejected!

    Cheers

  8. Hi,

Do you have an update with your application? I'm looking at the Electronic Instrument Trades Worker, so similar but slightly different. How did you find the TRA application form?

    Thanks

    Karl

The part I'm struggling with is in the employment statement it asks for 'Detailed description of nature and content of the work undertaken' and on the TRA MSA application form it asks for 'description of your work', are these two things not the same thing?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
