  1. I do have 3 years experience. Three and a half now but because I couldn't track down an old boss I couldn't prove it. Now I have tracked her down and she has written me a reference, hence I had sent them and the original letter off in the post as ANMAC instructed me to do. Except it appears to have been lost! Because the tracking is still saying over a month later it hasn't arrived. I need the references assessed for points because I got the 7's required in IELTs for skills assessment but I was .5 off in one section getting all 8's to get the extra points for my visa. So without assessed references I only have 55 points.

Chances are now I'm going to have to pay for my original LOD to be reissued before they can start doing my references. And I have no idea if they will accept the references 1st time.

I definitely don't want to let my AHPRA lapse. I want to be heading for Oz mid September but the longer all this takes and the fact once I've applied for my visa my medical is going to get referred, the more and more unlikely that is getting. Hence my frustration :(

I see, ANMAC tend to be pedantic, if it is not full time experience will give u less than 3yrs! Have u consider 190? It's state sponsored which some state don't charge u for it, u get 5 points that u need. Obligation is to stay in that state for 2yrs. Where in OZ are you looking to emigrate?

  2. Thank you so much for your helpful reply. The reason I had to send my references off was when I did the skills assessment 5 months ago I couldn't track down an old boss to write me a reference. So I submitted one for the minimum 3 months they ask forgot and that was all. So because I didn't ask for my references to be assessed for visa points my letter from anamc doesn't mention work experience. Just that I am suitable for skilled migration.

The understanding I have is that if you want to use your professional experience towards your visa that ANMAC have to assess the references before you can apply for your visa? It was an option on the original ANMAC for, which I didn't tick.

You are right, however to get 5 points u need at least 3 yrs working experience. If u have that level of experience, I think ANMAC have provisions of assessing ref and amend ua certificate. This will have nothing to do with IELTS.

  3. Hi am a nurse, and u will be pleased to know I won't charge u for my advice..... I moved to Melbourne last year. U don't need to do another ANMAC assessment. Their remit is to assess your skills for visa. So their determination letter will say something like your experience is equivalent to let's say 5 years in Australia. The number of years will determine number of points on skillselect. ANMAC require your IELTS only in assessing your English level as part of skills assessment, as long as minimum 7 for nurses it's sufficient. IELTS score for visa points is a separate thing all together. IELTS for visa is to prove level of English, so if u score at least 8 in each component your level is superior. When you express interest on skillselect you will complete your IELTS score, if at least 8 in all 4 (reading, writing, listening and speaking) skillselect will automatically assign you higher score. My suggestion to you is to create skillselect account, complete form it will tell you before you submit whether u meet minimum points (60). Don't worry about original ANMAC certificate if u have certified copy. All document submitted on skillselect are done electronically. I hope this helps. As a side note, I found whole process frustrating, these guys here take their time, so brace yourself for further frustrations. If u miss AHPRA deadline u can ask for extension, I think they can give up to 2 weeks. Whatever happen don't let it lapse, u will have to do it all over again. You are better off to travel here as a visitor/holiday to complete registration whilst waiting for 189.

  4. Is official letterhead a must in the reference letter? My manger has signed the reference letter for me but it is company policy not to write reference letters to employees (How weird of this policy...) so i don't have official letterhead in my reference letter. Really don't know whether ANMAC accepts it.

I would imagine letterhead is a must, otherwise how can ANMAC know its your manager? I think if I recall correctly on their reference guide ANMAC specifically mention letterhead.

  5. Hi all,

Just received 'auto-generated letter'; 189 granted. I express interest around 18 Jan for a family of five, got invited on 22 jan, submitted 189 application on 25. CO contacted me on 11 Feb asked for form 80 for me and OH which was submitted on 15 Feb. I front loaded other doc including police check and did medical before CO contact. Thanks to everyone posting on this forum, I gained a lot of info that enabled me to apply without needs of immigration agency

  6. Hi,

looking for a bit of advice, have started gathering all the paperwork I need for skills assessment (anmac) however they are looking for employment references for last 10 years!

Can an that be from HR or does it need to be my old manager?

any help would be appreciated TIA

    Hi Telic1,

HR can do statement of service for AHPRA as described by other confirming that you work with the trust for so long and whether post was full time and permanent.

However reference for ANMAC needs to be from your managers/ former manager. They require it to be more detail ( see template on their website). They won't accept generic job description...

  7. With ANMAC you don't need to send statement of service, you need to send reference which has to be more detailed. Basically describing what skills and duties do you perform. That is why only your line manager can do. They require a person who is also registered. It's very important you follow ANMAC template available on their website

  8. hi. I am very new to the group but really need help. I have been working as a nurse for 10 years in the UK and have decided to emigrate to australia. I have passed the IELTS exam and now onto registering with ANMAC and AHPRA but am getting so confused with what i need to do, what evidence i need to obtain and who signs it etc. Can anyone help please? Thank you

    Hi,

    with AHPRA you need;

    - statement of service from your employer. Make sure it states how long you have been employed and whether post is permanent and full time including weekly hours, otherwise they will ask you to send another one.

    - NMC needs to send statement of entry and verification document directly to APHRA. Go to the nmc website and request one online

    - University that you attended needs to send transcript and information about their syllabus (some universities have done this many times they have template ready.

    - document you need to send directly to them are as follows. You need to certify them, search online your nearest notary solicitor (make sure you do at least three copies for each, you will need one for ANMAC and scanned copy for when you apply visa)

    - passport ID page

    - Uni certificate and transcript

    - Proof of address (driving licence will do).

for ANMAC you needs all documents as above plus NMC and university sending stated documents (as those required by AHPRA). The only difference is that instead of statement of service from the HR, they require reference from your managers (has to be nurse) covering entire work experience (ie is 10yrs) in your case. They have template on their website, make sure you follow it to the letter. Some manager may not mind writing a draft for them to go through!

Tips; try to request documents from the NMC for both AHPRA and ANMAC on the same application you pay single fee for up to four requests in each application.

submit both ANMAC and AHPRA at around same time, it will save you about three months.

make sure you scan and keep electronic copy for all documents, may be required when applying for visa.

by the way you might as well certify all documents for any dependants (eg child birth certificate, passport, etc) at the same time, you will same money that way.

i think that is pretty much it, oh be prepared to get very frustrated, everything seems to take time, it seems like 12 wks is norm in OZ, very bureaucratic, miss single work on the document will ask you to send another one, no attachment you'll have to post it, that is two weeks wasted, or nearly £40 with dhl!

    Hopeful the information is useful.

    thanks
