Application Approved.
Timeline
Applied 18 April 2017
Test 22 June 2017
Approved: 28 April 2018 ( 12 months 10 days after application - 10 months after test )Thanks for your support.
I’m very sorry Shiela to hear that your application has taken this long. Is there any reason for the delay? I know that we have almost the same timeline upto the citizenship test. My family and I already attended our citizenship ceremony two weeks ago. Hope that immigration will find notice on the waiting time of your application.

Congras! Mine is still 'Received'
Thanks. I hope it changes soon. Think Immigration is trying to process as much as they can before the Christmas holidays.

There may not be official holidays but very limited activity during this period 15 dec - 15 January. Therefore we should not be very hopeful regarding approvals during this time.
My ImmiAccount citizenship status changed from Received to Approved on 15/12.

When your wife took the test and when she applied?
She took the test the same date as mine (june 15), we’re just 30 mins apart. Applied citizenship on March, I am the principal applicant.

Another week..!!
My wife's status on the immiaccount changed from Received to Approved. Mine hasn't changed. I am thinking it might be because that my kids are under my application. I have a friend with her son under her application with the same status as mine and she had her test taken a month before us. She took her citizenship test on May 2017.

Has anyone recently applied for citizenship ?
wondering what the resent time frame has been like?
There is a long thread on citizenship, you’ll get a lot of info on the citizenship timelines nowadays. Check citizenship timelines 2015-2016. This covers 2017 applicants as well.

Anyone know if the approval letter is sent only by post or if it comes by email? Thanks
Hi Felix123, I asked DIBP about the same question. They told me that they will not email the approval letter but will be posted. They said it has something to do with the legislation.

No, just means they got round to processing it. If prayers worked then the world would be a very different place.
No...it's just a matter of how strong your faith is.....so others call it luck, some call it coincidence, but for me....an answered prayer:-)

I doubt that will do any good!
I guess prayers do work for me. Just this morning, 2 mins after doing my Wednesday novena prayers (which I have been doing for the last 15 years) I got a call from the citizenship dept checking on the movement of my son to Australia. Good thing is that the officer told me that they are already processing my application. Guess prayers work for some people after all :-)

yes, Because of change of rules the whole system is on in a freezing state. 81000 pending applications for citizenship in DIBP
81000 OMG! This stops me from making future plans.....I guess I just have to pray harder then:-)

DIBP carry out the AFP check. There is no need for the applicant to worry about it at all.
Is the AFP check the main reason for the delay of the approval? I have called the citizenship dept last week and they told me to wait first for the approval that is sent by post (not by email). I am in touch with my council but everything goes down to what the DIBP feeds them. I was advised though by my council to contact them before the schedule of the ceremony just to double check if my name is in the list of attendees. You know, just in case gaps in communication happens.

A lot of them got approved on the same day. But some of them get the letter late
Isn't the Immigration department linked with AFP? Do they really post the police record to the Immigration dept? There's a lot of people applying especially the NZ citizens. Hope this doesn't delay our approvals....I mean delay longer :-(

I am waiting too , vic 23 june test. It is bit early 4 me
I noticed that Victoria approval is very slow as compared to the other states. I think it will become slower come July, due to the immigration changes....very bad!

I have just read the email again and glad I did:
You must bring the following original documents
- The originals of all the identity documents that you submitted with your application, for all applicants including children; and
- Any other documents that you have been requested to provide.
- Any other documents that collectively confirm your identity and establish links between all names you have used (for example, birth certificate).
- If you lodged your application online, please bring your completed Form 1195 Identity declaration with an endorsed recent passport sized photo for each applicant including children. If you do not bring the required original documents or provide the completed Form 1195 and an endorsed photo (if lodged online), we will not be able to verify your identity and proceed with your application.
Hi Felix123, I think because I am in the Regional Victoria. See the instruction below:
Appointments at a regional office of the Department of Human Services (DHS)
If you are attending an appointment at a regional office of the DHS, an authorised DHS officer will confirm your identity, take your photo, collect a signature from you and examine original documents for all applicants including children. DHS officers are authorised under the Australian Citizenship Act 2007 to administer the citizenship appointment and test on our behalf. You do not need to bring the Form 1195 Identity Declaration to your appointment.

Hi,
I have lodged my citizenship application and i have my test next week. it says that i need to bring the original Form 1195 for myself and my child.
Unfortunately i cannot find the original form and photos. Is this essential or can i get a new Form 1195 filled out?
ThanksHi Felix123, read again the instructions in your test letter. I thought the same thing but if you read it carefully it says that when you applied online, you don't need to bring the 1195 copies. I had taken my citizenship test last week and I brought the originals of my 1195 but it wasn't asked. They will only ask for your passport, utility bill, driver's license and birth cert (or whatever identification you have provided in your application); for the child just their passport and birth certificate. They didn't even asked for the photographs which were attested. But then again just to be safe, you can also do what sheila advised you.

HI NSJ & Teck 123,
I applied around 22:50 PM AEST on 18th April. Just 2 days before cut off date for the change of rules. I have not received any response from DIBP yet. It looks that you guys are right, after processing they have an automatic system which is sending emails out of business hours. I am from Hume council in Victoria. It is really a good news that people from Melbourne can refresh and potentially get early dates if they are lucky.
Perth & Sydney is far ahead most of them have already appeared in test who applied in April. I became eligible on 14 April but my bad I applied little late. Still lucky enough that I applied before the change of rules.
Good luck with the upcoming test on 30th June.
I hope you will get it soon. Sometimes if you don't expect, things will just happen. I did not change my appointment date but Elliot said he managed to change his date online.

Hi tech123, which city r u from? I'm from Mel and I received an email with my Client ID and an URL to access to citizenship appointment schedule (timetable), then I can refresh and change my test date.
I'm from regional Victoria. Ah I thought you are referring to the excel sheet for the processing times of this forum. I didn't know that you changed your appointment. I didn't change my appointment as I want to have more time to do the practice test.
