  1. Congrats to all those who submitted in Oct on getting grants. 2 weeks today i will be landing on Aussie soil! it seemed like forever waiting to get a grant, and since weve been granted time has gone so fast! currently sorting through years worth of stuff, packing, sending emails, chasing up things, job hunting and saying goodbyes - exciting and anxious all at the same time.

  2. Thanks Ceri!

Arranging viewings was super easy to be honest. I just looked on real estate website and saved properties I liked then rang the estate agent to find out if I could either have a private viewing or if there were any open house viewings coming up. We were quite lucky that a lot did private viewings for us. It's a renters market in Perth so you have so much choice and you can also ask for money off. The property we are renting was meant to be $430 a week and I said I had seen a similar property for $425 and they agreed, not much but it's $20 a week in my pocket!

To to apply for a property you just have to fill in an application pack, which they will give you at the viewing. It's all the basics, info about the people renting the property, they will want to see your employment contract and will ask for a personal reference so you can just put your friend down. We were really lucky with the property we got as it was through a friend who knew the owner and they just asked when we could move in!

You wont have any problems though, rent is coming down and there is so much choice!! X

Thanks so much for the advice it really helps. We had noticed that the rent prices appeared to have come down quite a lot as we have been looking for the past few months. My only concern at the moment is the employment contracts needed to rent as we are both yet to secure permanent jobs (hopefully this will be done before we arrive) but i may be on a temp contract initially. We have savings etc which will see us through for a while but were unsure of whether some letting agents might not accept this. But, as you say there seem to be a lot of properties, some of which have been listed for some time so fingers crossed we can get a good deal. xx

  3. Lovely to read this Sarah. We are due to arrive in Perth on the 20th Jan. Feeling very excited but so much to do before we arrive, and no doubt once we arrive. Can i ask how was it arranging to view and apply for properties? i have been looking at rentals via the internet and wondered how easy it is to rent. We are staying with friends for the first few days/weeks but we are keen to get something sorted as to not impose on them for too long. What sort of info/documentation did they require etc. Thanks

  4. Thanks so much! It was a bit surreal. My BF woke up really early and saw the email, woke me up and we were like whhhhoooooooooooooo, then went back to sleep :) We're just sat on the couch now looking at dates and I think we're going to around the 5th Feb. Where are you going? We're going to have a 2 week holiday in Thailand, then go on to Sydney to see friends and family and then head to Brisbane and hopefully settle there!

Sounds great. Thailand is fab. We are heading straight to Perth but intend on having some time to settle before the job hunt starts. Good luck, keep me posted on your experience xx

  5. ..

Have you heard anything yet?? Hopefully they won't drag their heels too much!

Not heard anything. I rang a general call center number (couldnt find a number specific to Adelaide) as it said i should hear back within 7 days on the email when they asked for additional info ( however i know this is a guideline) git through to a lady who said they usually wait for the 28 days to lapse before even looking at it and even then could be looking at early next year. Getting really stressed and a bit emotional about it all now

IELTS passed 5.8.15 ANMAC submitted 12.8.15 AHPRA submitted 12.8.15 Skills assessment ANMAC completed 14.9.15 EOI submitted for 190 visa 21.9.15 State Sponsorship WA granted 30.9.15 Invite to apply for 190 visa 10.10.15 Visa Application submitted 14.10.15 all docs front loaded....PCC and medicals completed and online by 13.11.15 awaiting decision!

  6. I just phoned in to see if there was a chance that we might have visas for Christmas. Was told that my application is not due to be looked at again until the second half of December. Disappointing, but I'm glad to know so I can relax for a few weeks.

So frustrating really seeing that November applications have been looked at and granted and knowing ours are just sat there (potentially needing additional info) i know there are processes and procedures just wish we knew what they were

  7. I've been having a nosey at the November invites threat which has been started and have noticed quite a few have been assigned case officers already (some within 11 days etc) does anyone know how the case officers work through each application. I know the different visas have a different priority level etc however, it just seems strange to assign case officers to more recent applications whilst older ones are outstanding etc.

  8. I know how you feel, im desperate to make it out for Jan but trying not to get my hopes up. We have been searching for flights every day too and desperate to get them booked. i wish there was actual contact with a CO i.e a number to ring just for peace of mind. My friend did this process 2 years ago and had regular CO contact over the phone but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

  9. Anyone got any feedback from CO today?

It is almost 2 weeks since CO initially contacted me asking for forms, medicals and PCC. I asked the CO for some clarifications on the same day but no feedback so far. In the meantime I uploaded forms and finished medicals (the status of medicals in my immi account changed to "Health requirement – health clearance provided – no action required").

I've been debating with my significant other whether we should wait for CO to email us further instructions or just hit the dreaded "request complete" button?

No, nothing for me either as yet. I would click the request complete button anyway as well as sending the requested info (thats what i did but not sure if it makes a difference)

  10. Seems to be the case. We were due to hear back this week...based on the auto reply to our original email...but nada! Grrr...this process is so frustrating. We started our paperwork at Xmas last year...feels like it's been going on forever.

Im annoying myself by checking my emails several times a day. What im concerned about is that it could take 28 days to get a response and then if they need further info do we then have to wait an additional 28 days etc etc

  11. Hey Ceri, congratulations on the CO! What kind of extra info dis they ask for if you don't mind me asking?

Is it true they allocate CO's in alphabetical order? But is that per month or by date of application? Just interested, I know it will happen when it happens!

Hi, i just need to upload proof of my previous job as i have only been in my current employment for 2 years. I knew i needed to upload it but have been having trouble getting it from them but have chased it so hoping for it by the end of the week. No idea how they allocate CO's from what i read on the forum there are no hard and fast rules really but seeing grants today is promising.

  12. I just had a look on our Immi Account and it says 'submitted' for the status. When you then click through it says 'You have successfully submitted your My Health Declaration form to the Department of Immigration and Border Protection....' Hope that helps?? h

All sorted now thankfully. The clinic hadnt fully submitted the medical but i managed to get them to complete it on Saturday and its all uploaded now

  13. You need to download (I think it says print) details.. that PDF will tell you what you need to know

Fab, thanks so much. It still says some parts are incomplete. Looks like i was being fobbed off by the receptionist at the clinic when she said it was all completed. Will be back on to them Monday morning. This can all be so stressful at times..
