  1. Thanks for your reply. It's a 189 visa he's applying for. That's reassuring to know. I was panicking a bit when I heard her saying that

erm nope! You don't need a penny in the bank to obtain a 189 visa - your informant is incorrect. Good luck xx

  2. That sounds great. Although I thought you had to already have an address out there before you could apply (I must have got that bit wrong) Unless you already have an address?

no just my UK address, certified copies of my passport and driving license. Just waiting for our cards to arrive now.

  3. As the others have said - I wouldn't fully trust my oh to choose an area, house, school without me being there. We are leaving on the 3rd July and are in the process of sorting through the house - it's by far the worse bit for me and very stressful. Organising letting agents, removals, tip/charity runs its a lot to do with two kids and working full time. My kids are 5 and 2 years and haven't really noticed the stress, their life is exactly the same, school/nursery, going to the park, supermarket etc they are both really excited about our new adventure. I'm glad I'm a team of 2 doing all of this not on my own. My kids so far have been very resilient to the changes around them so far and I'm sure it will continue.

We we have a temp accommodation for the first 8 weeks while our stuff is being shipped over, it means we are choose a new home together as a family.

    Good luck

  4. Hi! My husband has just passed his application stage for Western Australia police and has been given his assessment days which are in August. He is a qualified paramedic and has been working as a police special in the UK for the last few years.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience or advise of the assessment process please?? We are arriving in Perth on the 4th July 2016

    Thanks Sam.

  5. On reading the info about the expired "fit 2 work" form. I telephone alpha who were very helpful. They confirmed I didn't require a fit 2 Work but I would need a new nmc cert of good standard before being able to proceed with my application.

On Monday I'll be sorting this out as we arrive in oz on the 4th July.

  6. Hi samjwill iam sure you have to like i said on fit 2 eirk website it does state only valid for 3 months so i would do it from uk so its valid (no expert though). Didnt have to resend nmc letter of good standing just signed a declaration form at office. Good luck.

@Loulou I've just spoken to Aphra to confirm and I don't need a new fit to work but I do need to send through a new certificate of good standing as that is what was requested in my acceptance letter in principle. Weird.

  7. Hi mcgreaves are you the same on as on british expat site if so i understand you done ahpra for your wife just wondering if you knew the fit 2 work check is only valid for 3 months so when i went for identification i could not be registered as i had to apply for check again. If i had known i would have done it from the UK prior to leaving. Good luck. If not the same mgreaves i send my apologies.

Hi Lou - we are arriving at the beginning of July. I had my aphra granted in principle at the beginning of feb. does this mean I also need to do the fit to work again. I know I need to get the nmc to send through the certificate of good standing again which I'm organizing at the beginning of June so it arrives the beginning of July. I'm suppose to be starting work on the 18th July. Thanks Sam x

  8. You cannot bring your grandson to Australia with you simply because it might give him a better life. You would need to adopt him or he would need to be dependent upon you, which presumably he is not becuase that is his parents responsibility.

I read it as he currently cares/has responsibility for his grandson because his parents can not.

  9. I live and work in Yorkshire. I am a community nurse and treat a lot of patients in Beverley/hull, and I'd steer clear of a the area and a HU postcode. You could move further a field towards York or Leeds but you then would be commuting.

I live in between Leeds and York close to the motorways - hull/Beverley is approx 45-1hr drive.

Id vote Norfolk if it's only a choice between the two areas.

  10. We have just opened both individual, joint and savings account with westpac. No fees for 12 months. Do id checks here so they can send bank cards to your UK address so you can access your money as soon as you land. I've also just transferred £9500 last week and got $2.02/£. I was haggling between a broker and the bank - the bank won! They kept beating the brokers next rate. We will have more money to transfer and I'll be doing the same again.

Not literally took 10 mins to open the account on line. The bank then sorted out joint account and saving account for us.

  11.

@Loulou Great insight! Thank you. We leave in 8 weeks! Can I ask where abouts did you go for the car?? We have a holiday let for 8 weeks while we find our feet and decide where we want to live plus we are shipping everything over. Fingers crossed it pans out. I've just agreed my starting date for work (chemotherapy nurse in the community) and my daughter has been given a place at school (she's only 5years). Eeek! I'm desperately throwing stuff out, in an attempt to sort the house out! Lol

  12. Thank you. I thought ahpra was the final thing I should apply for but I see that most of you have done that first. I have tried but can't see how I can attach supporting documents from category a when it acts proof of identity eg passport with proof of current Australian visa. I don't have a visa yet :dull:

we have registration in principle- So basically I have to present my self to the local Aphra office to complete registration on arrival in Oz. I sent my Aphra and Anmac off at the same time. If you are outside of Australia the you have to have a full assessment rather than the modified one.

  13. You must wait for Anmac to come back, the Eoi asks for your assessment date from Anmac if you put a date in and this is different to the date the assessment is actually undertaken it would be an automatic refusal.

  14. Anmac took approx 10 weeks to come back but they requested further information. I too submitted Eoi with 65 points but have 2 kids and hubby in tow! We got invited to apply within 3 days of submitting the Eoi. Applied for the visa the following day and the visas were submitted 26 days after that. We leave the UK on the 3rd July.

  15. I asked about the Australian car industry, and the UK has 5.1 percent unemployment and WA has 6 percent, but if it makes you feel better to kid yourself, then please don't let me stop you.

I live in the north of England where unemployment is anyway between 6-9% dependent on where you live and we don't have a property boom like the south of the country. So suppose it relative.....

  16. Car industry not doing so bad but the latest new is 40+ car had their co2 emissions tested and they all failed. So looks like the manufacturers have been fiddling the figures to make the cars look environmentally better.

From what I've read even though Perth have had a slump in their employment figures overall they are still doing better than the UK.
